Well, to disagree with Oboogie, I am, as a socialist misanthrope, as the bumble bee, for whom it is scientifically impossible to fly. Yet it does.

But seriously, I think Malc's accurate definition allows for misanthropy within socialism.

On your first point. I've never met you Abers, but I am prepared to concede that you may not able to fly.

As for Malc's definition allowing for misanthropy within socialism ...does it? I'm not sure.
I'd have thought that a true misanthrope would want nothing to do with 'society', in fact would probably say there's no such thing.
The Conservatives would be a more obvious home for a misanthrope.

Really? With the clubs and garden parties and croquet and stuff?

I hereby declare that we need a UK Misanthrope Party.

My argument is that Abers' misanthropy is no more than being Scotch, a bit Son of the Manse. A bit dour, maybe. Not a big giggler - though not inexperienced in jollity and humour. Not proper misanthropy - for if it were true he would not post here at all, let alone in the way he does.

Fair point.
I admit that I was thinking more of the "Fuck you!! Me, me, me!!" aspect of Conservatism.

I distinctly saw a flicker of a smile when you said that.

The Tories will start parroting Cammers, won't they? "I met a black man once!" "I, too, met a black man!" "Forsooth! A black? Yes, I have also met one of these so-called 'blacks'!"

These folks only have black friends during their PMQ anecdotes.

I actually think that was Browns main problem. He didnt react in a way the London Media expected and so they were able to create a distorted picture of him.
