You try a software update over several million miles, which is next on the agenda. "Please do not switch off or unplug your rover."

I hope they don't have to send a wee man to press Ctrl-Alt-Delete after the upload.

Not too bad by PT standards I suppose. That's one giant fucker of a seagull that's landed on the stadium though, I hope it doesn't break something.

I think PT is sending out a subliminal message. The sign leaning up against the Olympic message obscures the end of the word 'Inspiration', this is followed by a repeat of the word 'ration'. If you take away the sign it would reveal 'Inspiration ration'. Rather apt methinks.

Edward de Bono would have struggled with the amount of lateral thinking required to get answers right on that show. It was parodied rather brilliantly by Viz with a strip entitled (I think) "Ted Rogers in the 25th Century".

I did see an episode a few months ago. Oddly, it had Barbara Dickson belting out a beserk version of "A Day In The Life" and Gerry and the Pacemakers going through a few numbers.

I'm a long-term lurker, finally taken the plunge. Be gentle with me...

I don't get the "joke". Team GB's gold reserves are up. Even allowing for the utter stupidity of such a statement, what's that got to do with the UK growth forecast being cut?

And what's that billboard doing stuck right outside the Olympic stadium etc etc.

Hiya Bream. Agreed the joke is totally illogical crap. The economy is still up shit creek without a paddle thanks to George "110%" Osborne, but even that dire news is not enough to puncture the mood of our gold medal winning athletes. Who are - let's see now - Duncan Goodhew (shome mishtake?), Rebecca Adlington, and erm.... Ron Weasley (WTF?).

the medals all appear to be radioactive, which considering their proximity to the athletes reproductive gear does not bode well for future generations of competitors.

it's a conspiracy!

Wotcha Bream, not just here fishing for compliments I hope.
Joke refers to the widespread Tory meme of Gordon McSporran Spazzface McBroon selling off the gold reserves some years ago. Sometimes PT is like a dog with a bone...

What's your favourite sausage, by the way?

I knew Stalin McLiebour would be responsible for this in some way. I guess any "gold reserves" reference is all good dog whistle stuff for the readership.

Favourite sausage? - I'm with the great Jim Hacker on this. The Great British Sausage, of course. As long as it's full of stuff that's been swept up off the abattoir floor it's good enough for me. We'll have none of your fancy Euro sausage nonsense here please.

For assistance in deciphering Paul Thomas's cartoons, may I refer you to the "Beginner's Guide to Paul Thomas Cartooning" thread, which can be found near the top of this very forum... :D

NO NEED! You just have to be able to type SHITE and that's it. Greetings Bream.

I seriously don't understand what the "joke" is supposed to be. Is he offering aid for them to host the Olympics? 'Cos the 2016 ones are already going to be in Brazil, aren't they?

Presumably foreign aid to help them boost their medal standing. Oh, my sides.
