Reminded by this thread now regularly, the Express seems to exist in a strange place in the newspaper landscape. It rarely gets mentioned elsewhere, few great scoops that I can recall, a kind of Mail-lite rarely taking a significant lead in stories etc, yet it seems to survive, even though nobody seems to confess to reading it. I never even bother with the online version. It just seems so bland and forgettable. At least the Mail attracts us like a car crash and gets a reaction.
