By the way, I have checked the Express website, and I can reveal that (surprise surprise), the Diana story is utter bullshit. Some loon wrote a script for The Bodyguard 2 in which Costner would star with Princess Di. Of course, she wasn't interested, because she was a fucking princess, not an actress. Also of note is that this story has been around since about a year after her death. Perhaps a more accurate headline would be "Princess Diana didn't want Costner to become her bodyguard, either on film or in real life."

Ker-ching.

Or so Desmond hopes. In fact more of a dull thud...

Search engine optimisation - I assume there's a Whitney Huston reference prominent in the Costner article.

And you're right, everyone. The Bodyguard story has been doing the rounds for a long long time. It first surfaced in around 1996, when Di was still That Fucking Looney and not The People's Princess, and 'how low can she go?' stories were all the rage.

Following her beatification they got a facelift, but have as much semblance to reality as "Insiders have linked Joe Pesci with a role in Eastenders..." pieces (or anyone vaguely credible appearing on CBB). What they usually mean is "Some researcher mooted the idea, and although in all probability it will never happen, it's enough for some lazy hack to do a bit of fantasy casting, mock up a picture of celeb in question on set, stick flat denial from agent in the last line".

Seems to me you're saying that the Express attracts older people who somehow deserve the rubbish.
A bit of age-related stereotyping, no?

Am saying the Express attracts older people for sure!

Not trying to belittle dementia, to be fair. Both sets of grandparents suffer/ed from it, probably on it's way for me when I'm old and reading the Express.

The facsimile (not original, duh, Express!) 1912 paper might be interesting though. I wonder what the Express' editorial stance was back then? If it happened today it'd be all 'Lots of immigrants killed, boo hoo' or 'Foreigners spend YOUR money on luxury cruise tickets'.

And there was me thinking they'd announced a pill that could cure dementia not that long ago. Silly me.

Aside from the great big morbid advert, isn't that actually quite a sensible headline for the Express?
