What a day it's been today......

Mitt Romney joins Republicans criticizing Todd Akin’s ‘legitimate rape’ remark

Quote:
Earlier today, Romney’s campaign issued a statement saying the former Massachusetts governor and his running mate, Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, support abortion rights for rape victims.

Hmm.... From August the 11th.... before this story on Todd Akin broke......

Paul Ryan’s Extreme Abortion Views

Quote:
Less attention has been paid, though, to Ryan’s hard-right positions on social issues. Indeed, on abortion and women’s health care, there isn’t much daylight between Ryan and, say, Michele Bachmann. Any Republican vice-presidential candidate is going to be broadly anti-abortion, but Ryan goes much further. He believes ending a pregnancy should be illegal even when it results from rape or incest, or endangers a woman’s health. He was a cosponsor of the Sanctity of Human Life Act, a federal bill defining fertilized eggs as human beings, which, if passed, would criminalize some forms of birth control and in vitro fertilization. The National Right to Life Committee has scored his voting record 100 percent every year since he entered the House in 1999. “I’m as pro-life as a person gets,” he told The Weekly Standard’s John McCormack in 2010. “You’re not going to have a truce.”

From the words of Paul Ryan himself......

The Cause of Life Can’t be Severed from the Cause of Freedom

I love this line.....

Quote:
In contrast, pro-life conservatives are natural optimists. On balance, we see human beings as assets, not liabilities.

.... but I digress.....

What we are seeing now is.....

Romney, Ryan seek distance from Akin remarks

As well as......

Romney accuses Obama of lying about his energy record

Ooh the irony......

Even though.....

Akin apologizes for rape comments; Obama says "rape is rape"

Ah well...... fundies with bloody noses.... Not a bad day.....

Has this been posted yet?

Mine came up with Jill Stein on 90%, Stewart Alexander (socialist) on 82% and Obama on 72%. Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson was on 58%, but that seems to be purely because of his drug, immigration and foreign policies - I couldn't be much more opposed to his economic stance than I am.

Remarkably, Jill Stein scored me 94%. I've never even heard of her.

I was 0% for the Repugnants. Seems a bit generous, tbh.

Jill Stein 95%
Stewart Alexander 88%
Barrack Obama 87%
...
Mitt Romney 7%

I got 3% republican, but then I've always been the voice of common sense among you lefties.

It's a sad feature of the American political system that I've never even heard of this woman. That said I doubt many British voters know about Caroline Lucas/the greens in general.

Have you seen Jimmy McMillan?

Image

Bloody hell.

There are about a dozen candidates, and about another half dozen officially withdrawn - including the strangely named Thad McCotter.

http://2012.presidential-candidates.org/

Totally mental, man.
