Yeah, that's true. I expect schools, youth work and employment got better, and some housing was done up from 1997-2010. Overcrowding (in housing) though must have got worse.

To take one example, Labour put extra money into inner-city schools through the 'Excellence in Cities' initiative. Gove took it away. Labour gave them 'Building Schools for the Future'. Gove took it away. Labour gave them the Connexions employment servive. Gove took it away. Most of the people on the streets aren't that old. Doesn't need a genius.

You missed out EMA.

Correct. A big thing for a lot of inner-city kids, despite all the Tory bullshit.

Given the link on page one, everyone's probably read this already, but I have to repost these sterling words from Inspector Limpdick:

Quote:
So much for Diversity Training, Positive Discrimination, Neighbourhood Policing and Community Engagement. At least 15 years of all those plus loads of investment in the areas concerned. Clearly, that hasn’t worked so it should all now stop. As for the ‘youth’ with thier looting and attacks on the police; the ordinary man in the street understands fully what is going on here. They hate us because we disrupt their criminal lifestyles. Simple. It’s no more complicated than that. My position, even if we were mislead by the IPCC, is that armed criminals should be engaged with firearms if necessary (Limpdick's emphasis).

Now, I have no sympathy for the opportunistic neds who saw this as a good chance to load up on free fags and LCD tellies (and I'm not saying that they were in any way representative of the majority of the protesters/rioters). But for fuck's sake.

"Clearly, that hasn't worked so it should all now stop."

Is it possible for a genuine, comparatively high-ranking cop to be such a blinkered, bigoted CRETIN anymore?

If so, then it kind of undercuts his own argument, as surely only Diversity Training and Positive Discrimination would have allowed such a poisonous little redneck into the Police in the first place, let alone promoted such a shit.

All sorts of things are leftist that I hadn't thought of before, apparently. Youth clubs! Leftist!

And if closing them down has consequences, the fault is with the left who made people dependent on them.

The kids were dependent on Building Schools for the Future as well. They'd lost the ability to build their own new buildings. Because of the left.

Talking about Limpdick I have a theory that one of the reasons why he's such a nob is he's an ex-squaddie, now I can remember reading somewhere that ex-squaddies tend to be hardliners becasue of their background e.g. they view criminals as the enemey and take a hardline and frequently apply the rules of the battlefield to fighting crime. Now I may be wrong on this.

Anyhow I also agree with amazonian if the police are so PC and therefore leftist in their attidudes how come such a bigoted moron has acquired a position of power withon the police force

Doubtless Limpdick would insist that it's just because he's such a great copper. Something which his own words would appear to definitively contradict.

Clearly not all the looters have any sense not to pose for photographs with their stolen hoardings and post them up for the world to see on twitter...

A couple of questions about the Mail's coverage.

Why is it referring to Mark Duggan as a 'gangsta' (spelled thus and in inverted commas)? Is there evidence he belonged to a gang? Or was he just a black man in baggy jeans?

Why is it leading with a picture of a young black woman who was "one of 100 people arrested" on Sunday night? She's not representative of the rioters — so why her?

Possibly because she's got her (enviably long) legs on full show. It probably also feeds into outdated stereotypes of black women being 'angry' (not like 'our' women don't you know).

You could replace 'socialism' with 'investment bankers' and there wouldn't be much difference.
