Walworth (Local gov byelection) has declared: Labour 1259, LDem 1003, Tories 94

The Greens are convinced they have beaten Respect. No word on the UKIP non-candidate.

It's a Labour hold with a positive swing (3.5%) caused by the death of a local councillor.

Mark Ferguson:

Quote:
In Rotherham, the result is imminent. Looks like a 4,000 Labour majority (which is good considering the circumstances) with UKIP 2nd, BNP 3rd, Respect 4th, and Tories 5th, according to Helen Pidd.

No idea about the Lib Dem. Perhaps he didn't get any votes. (Hearing it's 400)
Hearing that Labour may have got over 50% of the vote in Croydon North

Share of the vote in Rotherham 46%, up from 44% at GE.

Not here it wasn't.

So that's a gain and for holds, majority down in Rotherham (no surprise there) but share of the vote up, Tories and Lib Dems collapse, UKIP gets a protest vote, fringes get thumped.

00.10: The Lib Dems came SEVENTH in Rotherham, behind the English Democrats.
