On minimum wage obviously. Because that's free market economics for you.

FTFY
Pool sounded far too bourgeois and Bitty would feel right at home wallowing about in a midden.

Pay him but tax him 90%, and pay that directly to a shleter for lesbian Muslims or to help fund our champagne fuelled nights out in Islington, where we laugh at the slient majority and at common sense.

Being in Scotland, we'd have to call him McBitty. That would really take the (hal-al) biscuit...

"McBitty! Have you finished clearing out that midden yet?"

"I just need to point out that I'm only raking out this midden in the same way that any other shit mid-market tabloid would, so no surprises, there, innit?"

"Shut the fuck up and get on with it!"

the comments

A lot of those comments feature things about unfriendly/hostile Scots. Strange, that, because every time I've been up there the peoples' attitudes towards me being English have never been anything other than neutral. Friendly Scots are friendly to anyone, miserable ones are miserable.

Is the Express still backing Scottish independence? Not heard much from that 'crusade' lately. Perhaps they've forgotten about it.

Seems like another terrible miscalculation to me. As a Scot myself, I know how pissed-off we can get about people trying to bugger us about. The backlash could something that "Motherwell Anne" isn't anticipating.

Quick straw poll at work and the majority appeared to be for "Sticking it right up that posh eton greaser".
Interesting since prior to tat I'd have guessed at a 35% pro independence 60% devolution and one guy for a full scale American invasion.

I'd probably be in favour of sticking it right up that posh Eton twat myself if I still lived in Scotland (and even now I don't any more ). I can definitely get that attitude.

The thing is, Salmond is a consummately smart enough political operator to turn Cameron's intervention to his ultimate advantage. Salmond knows very well that the Scots aren't yet ready to go for full independence, which is why he doesn't want a referendum for another couple of years, and also why he will ignore Cameron's initiative to lend time-limited power to call a decisive referendum to Holyrood with strings attached, other than to trash it roundly as interference in Scots affairs by a Tory-led government, and all the while continuing his long game of progressing steadily towards independence - which Salmond is determined will include "devo-max" or "independence lite" as a backstop.

This will backfire badly for Cameron.

I'm still thinking he would rather cut off Scotland in order to secure a Tory majority for years to come. "Better to reign in Hell than to serve in Heaven", as they say.*

Well, yes - and that may well be the reason why he is prepated to take such an audacious risk - he'd not be that bothered if he did lose a referendum on separation.

I wouldn't bet on it either way. As I said I don't know what the breakdown of Tory support is, but seeming to endanger the Union will go down very badly with the old guard. I imagine all those retired colonels and stockbrokers sputtering into their morning G&Ts down at the golf-club when they see the Telegraph headlines.

Credit to Cameron for trying a decent strategy. He wants to bring the vote forward so soon that Salmond won't be able to feel sure of garnering enough support. Also, make it a straight 'Yes/No' to put the pressure on him.

Salmond won't bite though, far too shrewd for that. I think he is going to shit all over Cameron on this one.
