It's probably time we had a thread for this subject. Though I hate the fact that three northern English museums have been pitted against each other I admit to having a dog in this fight, as I am a member at the Media Museum in Bradford and have friends who work there.

Frankly, it's about the only thing keeping the centre of Bradford alive at the moment. I live in a Bradford postcode and would never visit the city centre if it weren't for the museum.

I suspect an amount of management of expectations is going on with the Science Mueum Group, so when they announce huge cuts everyone is expected to say 'whew, at least XXX museum stayed open'.

Anyway, here's a 38 degrees petition to protest at the possible closure of the Media Museum.

I think the most likely outcome will be that funding is gradually cut resulting in less money being spent maintaining and updating the museums which will intern lead to less visitors going through the doors making it easier to close them down after the next election.
