I wonder if the LibDems will use this as a good excuse to quit the coalition?

Somehow, I doubt that.

Moi aussi. If shagging up the NHS, buggering education, attacking the poorest and most vulnerable in society and delivering substantial tax cuts to the very rich weren't good enough excuses, I doubt that Tories being typically Tories is. Besides. Clegg likes his car and his red boxes too much.

No chance of the Lib Dems going anywhere any time soon - even pulling out of the coalition wouldn't be enough to salvage their electoral prospects at this point. All they can do is cling on to Dave's coattails and hope for the best.

... and he's gone.

Will that be enough to save them?

No, Nick Clegg had to save up all that money to get access to the PM. He's not going to waste it now.

Lol.

To explain my thinking - the LibDems probably realise that being in the coalition is doing them no favours, and they're screwed by the time of the next election.

But if they leave over a policy difference then the question will be raised as to why they didnt leave over the NHS bill, or tuition fees etc

But if a non-policy dispute came up, and it offered them a way to take the moral high ground, then it might tempt them to cut their losses.

Beaker has already been asked about this on this morning's Marr show. He made all the right noises of regret and all that, but not a sniff of deciding that this might end the coalition.

Those official Jags are very shiny. And they have leather-topped desks in their offices...

Of course, the Lib Dems would never charge people for the opportunity to meet Clegg.

Question; This bloke resigned as he said he wished to suggest he had done no wrong.

Now, if he had done no wrong he would have nothing to fear, ergo he would not need to resign, yes? So is it a case of his resignation is a admittance of wrong doing?

Was Andrew Marr worth watching Abers? I'm waiting for it to come up on iplayer.

Of course it is. I really don't know why they bother. Everyone knows he's bang to rights, it would be really refreshing if he would just admit it.

During a three-month investigation the Sunday Times claims to have hired Sarah Southern, a former Cameron aide now working as a lobbyist, who advised that making a "huge donation" was the best way to gain access to senior government figures

Cruddarse has only had the job for three weeks, so it's not just him.
