I now know that Michael Fallon was the one lying his way through Sunday Politics too.

I'm not surprised.

I see Danny Alexander was on too. Osborne really is saving himself for announcing tax cuts in the last two years, isn't he?

Fallon
Never done a day's work in his life (University > Researcher > MP)
Has interests in care homes (and paid directorships).
Overclaimed his expenses.

Surprised. He looks like a competent accountant, and talks relatively normally. Maybe David Milliband will be like that when he's older.

Fallon's purpose is to be too boring to make the news.

Osborne always keeps out the way* when the smelly stuff is flying.

*or is kept out the way, not sure which.

Is it my imagination or is this government especially corrupt and sleazy? In the short time they've been in power we've had:

  • Andy Coulson (and Daves general cosiness with the dark lord and his equestrian underling)
  • A4E and the governments reluctance to ditch them, including continuing to hand them contracts after investigations were underway
  • Lansley's closeness to various medical lobbying groups
  • Liam Fox and Adam Werritty (thanks Althea)
  • And now, a rather obvious sign that money talks in the Tory party

Again I find myself asking 'do people vote for them just because they're not Labour?'

The illegality, as you say, is important.

yeah, right.

And he's someone who's acted as deputy to that job for some time, so might just have gained an idea of how it's done.

I heard Cameron boasting about how he'd got a £18 million deficit in Tory funds down to practically nothing. And now we all know how, don't we?

Can you change it again to, "The UK: Where the Prime Minister has an attack of conscience and resigns forcing a snap election" please. Fingers crossed.

Anyone remember this gem from Cameron on transparency? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politic ... rency.html
Quote:
This incredible demand shows the power of transparency, and why we need more of it. Information is power. It lets people hold the powerful to account, giving them the tools they need to take on politicians and bureaucrats.

Cameron will announce who attended Number 10 dinners now. What an embarrassing u-turn.
