Sort of. Family party in Rotherhithe and we all trooped off to see the procession. Just a lot of boats, really. The barge was nicely done. Booed a bit, called for Boris to be keel-hauled.

My mother always claimed the family was related to Oliver Cromwell (quite possible, old Irish landowners) but he was a bit wimpish and should have cleaned out the whole nest of Stuart vipers. Woman of trenchant views. Took pictures of me next to a framed photo of Stalin...

All I want to see is what I am missing, if indeed I am missing anything.

Me too. I said at the start of the discussion that I could partly see Carlos's point of view, but I just couldn't accept some of the points he cited in support of his argument, so I challenged them. That's usually how debate works on here, is it not?

That's how debate should work. Period.

People being able to justify what they say should, well, say it.

I think it was Chris Addison that tweeted today about imagining Brenda getting home tonight, settling back in a chair with her shoes kicked off and a large gin and Dubonnet and saying to Phil : "If I never see another facking boat again in my life, Phil, it'll be too fucking soon...."

Well, I bet you didn't exactly enjoy it either. And you're not 84 years old and had to stand up for 6 hours......

A debate?

Yeah, it's not a 'debate' if you disagree with the point, is it?

Go piss blood and die!

Carlos, if I might, to a guy I respect.
Say if you want me to piss off.
But I don't think he's written anything to warrant that. Really.

Oh I see. I insulted you.

[olive branch]Carlos. I have a lot of respect for you. Perhaps there is something I am missing and we can drop this?[/olive branch]
