Althea. Try putting yourself on the other end of your remarks sometimes then you may not come across as being so obtuse.

That is not a criticism as I regularly made the same mistake in the past. Live and learn.....

The problem being is that if you have agreement instead of reasoned argument the mail will win.

As the mail can say, "Those buggers over at mailwatch say things to make each other feel good about themselves".

Oh I see. I insulted you.

[olive branch]Carlos. I have a lot of respect for you. Perhaps there is something I am missing and we can drop this?[/olive branch]

Fine. Yes, that's the point. Olive branch excepted. You dismissed my argument as if I was an ill-informed Mailtard with no original thoughts. Mull over what I've got to say.

Filthy, red, pinko, trotsky Malcolm. S'cool.

Althea, grow up. Because if that foot keeps getting lodged in your mouth they'll be no National Health Service to help you out soon.

Let me just point out.

You have no problems with attempting to insult other people.

As I said, perhaps now is the time to drop it.

Guys guys, are we really going to fall out over what is, in reality to everyday life, a pretty trivial issue? Let's be honest, you have to be a real saddo on either side to spend virtually any time on a daily basis thinking about the monarchy, it's just there and isn't really offending anyone by being so.

If you want to rage against something how about cuts to disability allowance or paying off corrupt bankers using taxpayers money? Priorities, eh? Deposing the Queen and setting up a republic is a long way down the list of priorities for any sensible person in my opinion. People are suffering right now because of what this current Government is doing to people, and it's got bugger all to do with any member of the Royal Family.

It is far better to challenge beliefs. This is not the SAS and we don't have to prove loyalty to each other.

This is going to happen as long as you want to seriously use critical thought to fight the spew that is the mail.

I think the question should be, has the Monarchy been good or bad for Britain over the last 200 years. Looking at history there have been numerous attempts to change. I doubt many cheering today know of the true family name Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

Personally, I think the whole concept of deference has held the greater population back for at least two generations or more.
