Insert comment about Pickles' weight meaning he qualifies as multiple politicians here.

Tubby; That first link is interesting. Basically "I'm not racist, but..."

For Althea and anyone else who may have missed it. Here's Starkey on Newsnight last August on the riots.

I suppose they could argue that Pickles could represent all three parties because he is a Tory who eats Liberal amounts of food and always Labours a point!

Althea, David Starkey has been working diligently at undermining any status he may have had as well respected for several years now, and long before this particular edition of QT. See Oboogie's You Tube clip and other stuff.

He is now much better known for being a reactionary old bigoted cunt than for being a half-decent historian.

As I say, he IS the anti-matter Simon Schama.

He starts off well - "I'm an historian, we won't know until later", and then goes and cocks it up straight after. I can't work out if he's suggesting black people are violent and stuff (well, maybe you'd get that idea if you just listened to rap/hip-hop) or if he's just an ignorant cock.

He's the anti-British reactionary, old, whatever else you said. He's rubbish. Will be pressuring the DMR to give him up.

He always does that, starts off sounding reasonable and then launches into reactionary bullshit. He did it tonight on QT as I said a few posts ago:

Abusing his power of assumed rationalism there. Utter, utter cock.

It's not just his politics either, I've never really rated him as a historian and his performance on that Jamie Oliver school programme was horrendous.

I see.

Anyone else considering a complaint? Just me?

Already done.
It's a habit of mine when Starkey is allowed on to current affairs programmes.

Hopefully, Will Young's raised his game since the last time they invited him. I seem to recall it being a complete embarrassment. :?

My local MP tweeted last night...
Quote:
@conorburnsmp Don't always agree with him but thank goodness for people like David Starkey

I don't think we should be thankful for people like David Starkey. Why on earth should people who hear something they disagree with and respond by laughing, scoffing and belittling the person who said it deserve our thanks? He's one of those people who thinks he's right because he's better educated than you, and will not even consider your peasant point of view.

I guess that's why my Tory MP likes him.

Boris Tweeted that he wished Starkey was his uncle. He then deleted it...

I suppose when Starkey behaves like a tit any Tory on the panel looks quite moderate and normal in comparison. I've never regarded Redwood as moderate or normal but last night sat next to Starkey he came across as almost human.
