I'm going to sound like such a fogey here (and I'm only in my mid-30s) but I'm pretty sure that when I was around 20 most people my age weren't so nasty, shortsighted and happy to parrot tabloid nonsense. Mind you I was at uni so maybe I was the shortsighted one?

Anyway, sometimes I really regret the advent of the internet and 'Web 2.0', despite the entertainment I get from it. It never ceases to amaze me how many genuinely stupid people there are in the world - not ignorant, just plain thick. Sometimes I think people should have to take some kind of intelligence test before they're allowed to post online, and thinking that makes me sad. :(

Don't let it, I believe people should be required to take intelligence tests before they do all manner of things. Voting is my current favourite.

I'm in my early 30's and I think these sorts of sentiment was commonplace back then amongst certain people my age. Although the anti muslim sentiment has notched up considerably since 9/11. The BBC's "Have your say" (known as "Talking Point" back then) had it's sizable quota of cocks (it was much more moderated though back then), as it does to this day as well.

NO RIGHTS, HUMAN OR OTHERWISE, FOR TERRORISTS AND TRAITORS

Quote:
How can we possibly let this scum live off us and have "human" rights. Anybody who condemns the deaths of the 52 innocent people on July 7th 2005 is not a human therefore does not have rights and SHOULD NOT be allowed to stay in this country.

Eh???????

Quote:
With rights become responsibilities, people like Anjem Choudary contribute nothing to society yet they bleed the system dry. They show NO responsibility at all to this country, no allegiance to it and no respect for its citizens. The Enemy Within, such as the UAF (who are actually fascists themselves) and the politically correct brigade who support extremism are themselves TRAITORS. However, Tony Blair conveniently scrapped the Treason Act when he came to power, so these people effectively cannot be tried for Treason. We want the Act reinstated and justice meted out accordingly to ALL enemies of this country both within and without. We believe these people have NO RIGHTS WHATSOEVER TO SPEAK OR MARCH. We want them gone. Terrorists and traitors alike. Please sign the official petition on the website address below. MAY I MAKE IT CLEAR THAT THE COLLECTIVE NOUN "TRAITORS" INCLUDES THOSE AT WESTMINSTER WHO HAVE SOLD THIS COUNTRY DOWN THE RIVER SINCE DAY ONE, INCLUDING BLAIR AND BROWN. Also those in local government and public services, education and everywhere the self hating enemies of this country infest. Do gooders with misplaced loyalties included. Quangoes, poliically correct councillors and officers. When we undermine these people we will get our country back.

:?

I know how you feel.

The internet has just given these people a platform which didn't exist 10-15yrs ago. When you throw in a media which is determined to drive the concept of 'consumer interaction' for their tedious campaign/issue led agendas, then I'm afraid this is the result! A sea of bastards!

However, I still believe that the majority of people in this country are intelligent, honest and good-hearted. The day I doubt it is the day the Mail wins!

You'd trust it, wouldn't you?

it is belived to be that alot of cat A prisioners ie sex offenders who r released from portland prison r housed in dorset somerset .therefore what is the true number living around us ??

Now these are 'ordinary' people, with a serious and apparently justified concern. What they don't seem to be able to do (apart from write coherently, which may be a function of intelligence) is think of any sensible way in which this problem might be handled. for example, what is done in other countries?
There was a case in South London last year in which a screaming mob killed a man accused (but not convicted) of having child pornography. This sort of mob mentality and complete lack of any constructive thought leads to that.
Perhaps it would be better if paedophiles were locked up for life - they do seem to have an almost 100% recidivism rate. Or possibly chemically castrated, as in Scandinavia. But not left to a mob, half of whom can't read well enough to make sure they have the right person in their sights - not a joke, a mob did attack the wrong man, and as a result his life was ruined ("no smoke without fire" etc.) They seem to have no concept of campaigning sensibly or lobbying MPs or others who could take meaningful action.

From the Weymouth anti-paedo group comes a bizarre Brass-Eye style suggestion:

Topic: Paedophile Island

I think the idea of a 'paedophile island' community where all the kiddie-fiddlers can be sent would be a great idea (maybe not the Polanski/Chuck Berry 'slept with a 15 year old girl by mistake' paedos though, they don't seem quite so worrying).

Anyway, put all those sweaty palmed men in there, build a decent fence around the place then let them get on with it. Set up another island, same sort of thing, for female paedos too. Let them trade with the rest of the world and everything else, just make the rule that no kids are allowed to go to the island; no men are allowed to go to the female paedo island at all; no women are allowed to live on the male paedo island; and only non-paedos are allowed to leave the island (which can only be left through certain checkpoints). Other than kiddie-fiddling, most paedos aren't dangerous so if you put them in an environment where there are no kids nor opportunity to make some kids they should be ok.

It could even become some bizarre tourist attraction!

Who thinks they should make a couple of 'paedophile islands'? Maybe it could be an international paedophile island? Could we use the same technology they use in Dubai to make an international paedophile island?

It's got to be a pisstake. The signs for me are that the spelling and grammar are pretty good, and he's cultured enough to know who Roman Polanski is.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and saying that he must be subversively mocking the group...

I notice that death penalty one even has it's own email address

Would be a shame if someone were to sign it up to a few gay porn mailing lists or something, wouldn't it...

Incidentally, why is there not a single FB group saying Clarkson should NOT be Prime Minister?
