There was a report on the exclusion issue on Newsnight last night. You might find it worth catching on iPlayer.

I think you'll find just by its very definition that it frigging well is, moron!

To be fair, he didn't actually say that. But that's the implication, isn't it?

Here's another problem with academies about which Michal "Rigour" Gove is strangely silent.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10479815

Quote:
Official figures, in the TES, show 49% of academy A*-C GCSE passes were for "academic" exams, compared with 73% in other schools.

Many vocational exams taken instead are thought less demanding, but count for up to four GCSEs in league tables.

The government says academies are improving at twice the national rate.

Also in that story:

Quote:
It has long been suspected that some academies have used vocational qualifications to get less able pupils achieving and that these can give an impression that they improving at a fast rate.

And many individual academies have resisted publishing a detailed breakdown of what examinations are being taken.

As far as I can see those unforthcoming schools have included poster school Mossbourne.

So Gove appoints a man to improve traditional education when it isn't obvious he's done that at his own school. Or have I missed something?

Gove nationalises Ofsted:

If Wilshaw wants to convince anyone else that he isn't a Gove crony, he should make a big fuss.

Gove's Bible project turns out to have no funding. Stuck in warehouse abroad.

In my school governor capacity, I've just seen the latest brainfart sent round to schools by the DfE trumpeting how wonderful it is going to be when the Education Act is fully in force etc. Amongst other things, they "remind" schools that they don't have to get parental permission for every visit off site, only for those that are out of school hours, high risk, or involve nursery age children.

Best of luck to any schools that haul Mailtards' kids off to mosques without prior permission ...

#3 son is off on his Mosque trip next week.
He's really looking forward to it.

And guess who's paying.

Londoners, Mail Readers and Hard working English families. Hahahah!

That thought occurred to me. Presumably it would be like one of the floating bordellos seen at Monaco for the Grand Prix. Hardly regal.

The other thought is why not just refurbish the old one? It's not as though she's got long to use it, so it's really a pleasure boat for Charlie and Camilla.

I think the project will fail if we put about the proposed name - "Queen Camilla"

Not to mention the navy Destroyer and patrol boats that cover it for security.

Dropped, in favour of this week's nautical themed fad.

Served its purpose.

I think that might have been better served if they'd turned up in a few schools. And preferably in the actual 400th anniversary year.

Even in Cameron's Tory party you can get a reputation for one publicity stunt too many.

Cameron and Osborne could have helped Gove out with some money. They didn't think it was worth it. Nor did any sponsors, so far.

Not really. The point was the publicity, favourable headlines in the Mail and Express. No-one (including Gove) was ever interested in the Bibles - which in my experience are in pretty good supply in schools anyway.

See also Yacht, Royal.

Gutenburg has a copy, so school's can download it for free. Admittedly without Gove's personal inscription, which is probably the whole point. Without that, who will even remember who Gove was ten years from now?

Gove's plan is that in ten years people will know who he is because he is prime minister. The bibles are irrelevant, the headlines are paramount.
