I only wish the floor manager hadn't taken the whisky away from them during the christmas episode last year - it would have got so much more interesting if they'd all been alowed to get utterly shit faced. I reckon someone might have finally snapped and done over Locke at last as well.

The whole thing could have been improved with one well placed match.

It was a massive pub optic as well.

If anyone did set fire to anything it would have been Davies doing the two Jedwards with it I reckon, he looked like he wanted to top himself within ten minuites. :D

You want people to be burnt alive because you don't like them?
Now where have I read stuff like that before?

No I didn't, I merely said that Davies looked exasperated and exausted from dealing with Jedward (as did the rest of the guests), and mentioned the size of the bottle.

You might be thinking of Ponce I believe, and even then I don't think such a comment was meant to be taken seriously.

Stewart Lee certainly does repeat the same jokes many times when I've seen him live, I remember seeing him over the course of several Glastonburys and his set almost always included the same jokes. However IMO the bulk of Lee's comedy is derived from delivery of those jokes rather than the punch lines and in that way his sets are virtually always new and diffrent, the closest thing I can equate it to is a good jazz musician who always busks over the same standards (but each performance is always unique).

As for the if you've only read one book joke, I'm sure I have heard him do that one at some point between 2000-2004.

I'll tell you who I fucking hate -

no I won't, because people yapping on about their personal tastes and threatening violence on the ones who don't suit is just too tedious to bother with.

Tedious and fucking nasty.
"I don't like [insert name of sucessful and therefore popular] entertainer so therefore I think they should be beaten up or burnt"

But it's ok "because I'm only joking".

A few months ago a NWI was imprisoned for threatening on Facebook to torch a Mosque because he "hates Pakis"
The judge did not accept his defence that he was "only joking".

I know I'm just a humourless old lefty and all, but I don't see what's so funny about wishing violence on people who are doing you no harm.

Fair enough, poor judgement.

A bit different, but I don't really want to get into an argument about it.

Did he not mean "the whole thing" as in the whole show generaly as an idea? - in that you can no more burn a TV show idea to the ground then you could burn and destroy insomnia, the high pitched noise bus doors make, rainy weekends or anything else that annoys you or that you don't like, but that it is just an expression of annoyance at said thing.

Really, I don't honestly think anyone who was reading this thread was seriously looking at that post and thinking "yeah, he wants to kill people, I'd kill them too why not I hate them as well Ha Ha Ha".
Most people would look at that and just assume the person who wrote it just didn't like the show...except now you've gone and made it all sound so serious and genuinely threatening.

There is a big difference between what just happened here, and someone going online and saying they genuinely want to kill a specific individual or group of people, for clearly (and of course usually wrong) defined reasons based on hate and their own perceived sence of victimhood.

Honestly, you need to know when to leave it.

Can we get back to the thread now peeps?

The material facts are the same.

The big difference to me is my own prejudice. To whit I'm more inclined to give the benefit of the doubt to a member of Mailwatch than to a member of NWI.

It's not so much that as the constant assertion that someone or other is 'shit' because the poster doesn't find them to their taste...
