Well, guess what? Contrary to the views of virtually all other Labour MPs, Kate favours spending 80 million quid on a new luxurious boat for Brenda and the other parasites. Who'd have seen that one coming?

Actually, anyone that has observed Hoey's bizarre career in parliament since 1989. pro fox-hunting Chair of the Countryside Alliance, regular columnist for the Daily Telegraph, media rentagob for any dodgy right wing issue you care to name, and supporter of innumerable right-wing causes down the years. I remain utterly bemused that Hoey is a Labour MP.

More to the point, I remain deeply puzzled as to WHY Hoey is a Labour MP.

Anybody got the answer?

No answer, but I've often wondered. Feckin' PE teacher...
I also feel the same about Tom Harris.

But on the other hand, isn't Zac Goldsmith a poor fit with the Tories?

A former Marxist Ulster Unionist as well. It could be that when she decided on a career in politics there were so few Labour MPs she saw them as her best chance of advancement.

Same goes for Frank Field. Has he ever had a left-of-centre thought in his life? I'm yet to see evidence of it if he has.

I used to deal occasionally with Kate Hoey in her capacity as a constituency MP. I must say her performance was infinitely better than that of the MP in the neighbouring constituency, but as that was Simon Hughes, perhaps that's not surprising.
