Amongst other bullshit in Dave's statement he claimed he wasn't a Murdoch stooge because he had decided to put Cable in charge of the BSKYB bid which is a bit of a red herring because who else could he have given the job to other than the Business secretary? He also went with the argument that there were more important things to deal with than this which a bit of a bogus argument because it really wouldn't take up that much time to refer this to the civil servant in charge of policing the ministerial, if this had been done last week there would have been no need for Cameron to have made a statement today.

BBC Carried this on their top of the hour radio news, but cut just as speaker called Ed to respond.
Bummer, I was looking forward to another evisceration.

Has anyone yet asked Salmond why "lobbying for jobs in Scotland" was the sort of thing he could only do in private?

Take that you pseudo-progressive Scottish equivalent of the Lib Dems bullshitter.

Devastating.
Dacre will now try to move into the Murdoch role...

Looks like the Tories on the committee refused to back the findings I'm sure Mensch will be reward with a junior government job by the Summer. Will be interesting to see what Cameron says about the report, will he probably duck out of criticising Murdoch and instead say we need to leave it to Leveson.

Surely after the kicking they have received by the select committee and Murdoch people like Crone and Myler are going to have to launch some kind of fight back or risk carrying the can for all the wrong doing that took place at NOTW.

I was surprised that given the shitstorm they are suffering at the moment the Tories would act in a partisan manner. It just adds fuel to the fire on the story that they are in Murdoch's pocket - which was also clear from the easy questioning of both James and old testicle-face in the hearings.

Mensch does seem to have been very quiet on the subject of late. The Graun picked up on this last week.

Quote:
Shortly after the appearance of the Murdochs before the select committee in July 2011, committee member and Conservative MP Louise Mensch said she was emailed by a journalist called David Jones threatening to expose past misdeeds including taking drugs. The email was copied to the Conservative chairman and the Conservative chief whip. Mensch then issued a statement to the media confessing to the accusations and concluding: "I have not the slightest intention of being deterred from asking how far the culture of hacking and blagging extended in Fleet Street."

The true identity of David Jones was never established but colleagues on the select committee say that Mensch has kept a low profile on the subject of News International and phone hacking ever since.

My right gonad wishes it to be known that it finds that remark extremely offensive.

The left one accepts it as fair comment as it does, in fact, look astonishingly like Rupert Murdoch (photo to follow).

Not surprised the Tories are defending their paymaster. I wonder what Alex Salmond will also say on the issue. Going to read the report now. *eating popcorn gif*

She did make a fool of herself by claiming Piers Morgan was involved in hacking, she knew this 'cos she read it in his book. She then had to make a grovelling apology.

There was one unlikely exception- Phlip Davies.

That's a disgraceful comment from Mensch. They really couldn't be more blatant in their fawning ,could they?

I'm glad Cameron said what he did on the Andrew Marr show

Quote:
But Mr Cameron said it was "not true" to suggest there had been a deal in which he would help the Murdochs' business interests or allow the BSkyB takeover to go through, in return for their support for his party.

"It would be absolutely wrong for there to be any sort of deal and there wasn't... There was no grand deal," he said.

He said he had "wanted the support" of as many media chiefs as possible when he was opposition leader, so he could "take the country in a different direction".

He had disagreed with Rupert Murdoch on some issues, including the detention of terrorism suspects and a licence-fee funded BBC, he said.

"The positions I reach are because I believe them, I think they're right for our country. That's the platform I stand on. I do not do things, change my policies to suit this proprietor or that proprietor."

I don't believe a single word of that and someone has evidence to the contrary somewhere. When that comes out he's fucked and hopefully this loathsome corrupt government by cunts for cunts will fall.

Under the Mail's report on the story a Mail reader tells it as it is.

Quote:
Why did the report simply not say instead that only politically correct, anti-capitalist, Labour leaning liberals will be allowed to run any form of media in the future? Just like the BBC....

Mensch on #BBCNews : "Rupert Murdoch is a great newspaper man and obviously fit to run a major company." Wow.

Not fit not proper.
Extremely damning when you consider the rogues gallery who pass the test.

Good old Tories, loyal to their master till the end.
