Funny one, isn't it?

Police throwing the book at someone involved with dodgy people surely isn't that uncommon, is it?

Nick Cohen is an arsehole who says crap he doesn't believe in order to get up the noses of 'liberals'. I've just decided.

OK, to be fair, I've had a pretty good idea for some time. He'll move to the Mail or Express at some point, mark my words.

The problem that I, and probably a number of others, have is that for too long too many journalists turned a "blind-eye" to the excesses and irresponsibility of a small, but significant, minority of their colleagues. Worse, many chose to "justify" unacceptable behaviour by crying "freedom of the press". I do not want repression, I want a free, honest and credible press but we won't get there by objecting to investigation of people's behaviour.

Nailed it.

He can occasionally produce something on Iranian bus driver strikes.

But he's going the way of Liddle- couple of left wing themes and the rest reactionary rubbish. Sunday Times?

Rod Liddle is just a spewer of reactionary, 'controversial' tosh.

For more 'we should be able to do whatever we want' rubbish, check out Matthew Parris in the Times. The fear really is settling in.

Nae fair! The QC representing the Telegraph is saying that they've played nicely and don't see why they should be punished along with the bad boys by the regulation of the press. He's getting pissed off by Leveson's interruptions.

Here's the Transparency International corruption perceptions index. Sure, it's perceptions only. But you'd expect Britain to be top of it, given we have this fearsome press that stops corruption, right?

16th equal. New Zealand come first- they must have really horrible tabloids.

Britain's 16th is put into perspective by Fianna Fail's Ireland coming 19th. That's a country where politicians get caught and run for office again under nicknames like "The Stroke".

Interesting that the UK has dropped from 8.3 to 7.8 in a decade and slipped four places.

Interesting. It's almost like when you privatise stuff, or outsource, or PFI, backhanders take place. Somebody should tell Cameron immediately, I'm sure he'll want to put a stop to this trend straight away

A gentle reminder to the 'chilled' press from Levo this morning. He said that as part of his report the Inquiry are keeping a record of the press cuttings and comments from columnists. I think he's getting irritated by a growing, almost orchestrated, swell amongst the press that's aimed at undermining the credibility of the Inquiry.

Sherborne is putting in a powerful summing-up. Devastating for the press.
