I joined, on the basis I'm doing some nightschool.

Any other members? They seem to tolerate the BNP posters in a way us older folks wouldn't (they do in general argue against them quite well) and there's a lot of UKIP. Many are good though, much better than me at the same age.

If anyone fancies coming along and helping out....

It's just a forum. At least the bit I'm on is. I need to be on at least 3 forums at any one time.

Cycloon's got a point. I've had someone bang on about leaving the EU and I pointed out that we'd have to obey a lot of the "Brussels" stuff anyway- a standard argument. And that anyway, were we seriously suggesting we'd have a load of different technical specs different to those in the EU? I gave the example of Norway and since then he's just said "but how come Norwegians haven't joined?" And later "I can't be bothered with the old arguments".

I just wasted some time pointing out to some BNPer that his party's opposition to terrorism wasn't exactly wholehearted when their loyalist mates were doing it. And that they used to like Islamic anti-semites. He's probably quite young, so maybe this was worth doing.

He didn't respond to me, just went on about how some mosques supported Hamas. Because if Britain were treated like Palestinians, the BNP wouldn't at all be in favour of fighting.

Anyway, there was this gem on another thread, which has been laughed off, by everyone. One chap satirically suggested that we should have stayed out of WW2 until we got the Angevin territories in France back.

Quote:
Who agrees that Ireland should become part of the kingdon again?

Who also agree that we should have forced them to do it and withholded bailout money (obv the EU prevent us from doing this in reality so hypotheticallY)?

Is it likely that Irlenad coming back would be good for Btitain economically and politically?

I used to go on there ages ago, but haven't bothered for at least the last couple of years as it seemed to be getting more and more of the crazies. Sounds like it's only got worse since then.

The latest- if anyone is interested in my Tubby on the Net theme- is the BNP bloke saying to me "Of course there's British culture, you leftie apologist (sic)"

I'd denied the existence of "British values", and not mentioned culture. He had earlier helpfully defined this culture- it didn't include Vaughan Williams or Milton, put it that way.

Did it by any chance involve football, lager, invading other countries and beating up foreigners?

He didn't mention invading other countries- the BNP aren't that keen on it. He mentioned pubs, Protestant history, cuisine, football and rugby.

I presume he knows that football's played in other places.

There are of course strong themes of British history that have informed our current climate.

It's just that to seal this off from everything else and venerate it as being innately wonderful is stupid.

Ah yes, Protestantism, that traditional British religion that was kicked off in, er, Germany.

But is says "Church of Englund", so it's English (not that you can be English coz it offends PC Muzzies and Forrins) and as such better.

Everything that calls itself something is that. Which is why Hiter was socialist.

I've been having a mooch about on TSR for a while now and whilst it is excellent for daily mail bingo, if these are the views of our future professionals then we as a nation are fucked.
