The planned 3p rise in fuel duty in January is cancelled.

There will 1% cap on public sector pay rises for two years after the end of current freeze next year.

The Office for Budget Responsibility increases its estimate of the public sector jobs expected to be lost - previously 400,000, now 710,000.

Borrowing is £112 billion more over the next four years than previous forecasts, but debt interest payments are £22 billion less than expected. L

There will be below-inflation increases in some working tax credits, but other credits will rise in line with inflation.

Who needs employment law, health and safety regulations, unfair dismissal tribunals, when national debt will increase 8% by 2016, train fares increase above inflation, borrowing going up, unemployment rising, public sector pay frozen at 1%, a 1 in 3 chance of the overall economy shrinking next year. But don't worry folks we found £500 for science projects, extra nursery places, improving our roads by cutting those pesky things like tax credits.

It's another hammer blow to the myth this will be the greenest government ever. £1.02bn cut from child tax credit, £275 from working tax credit, £1.075 from public sector pay by 2015. Public sector job cuts increasing to 710,000 up from 400,000. He can't keep blaming the Eurozone crisis when the OBR have upgraded their growth and downgrading British. The Youth Contract is a fallacy, 3 months unpaid work experience it seems for private firms - no mention how we are supposed to afford transport, food etc.

bluebell: Don't worry, that's what I assumed.

And it all just seems a bit crap really doesn't it. Luckily it's just me and one (anti DM) colleague in the office today, so we've been discussing the awfulness of it all.

Just had a tea break conversation with a colleague about all of this. My suggestion that tax evasion needs to be addressed, as it is theft of public money, met with a blank look.

I disengaged from the conversation after proposing renationalising everything and reintroudcing free education for all with a meaningful grant to live on.

Overheard Tory boy speaking to a colleague: "Wow, Gourami is really.... socialist" (socialist used pejoratively). Other colleague: "Socialist? Erm, in what way?" Tory boy: "In what way?! Politically!"

Cripes! Political socialism. The worst kind.

Ah, those poor motorists! Thank God they got a break!

Meanwhile our knob of a mayor will stick bus fares up to £1.50 or thereabouts in January.

Yeah, I drive, I don't give a shit about 3p on a litre of fuel. I'd rather be paying it and not be cutting somewhere else.

I was harsh. Only £1.40 to take the bus!

I'll believe motorists are hard-up when I see them driving at 50 mph with 5 in each car.

The Tories have really restored respect for Parliament, haven't they? What with leaking the budget to their mates.

I saw that mentioned on twitter, a breach of the ministerial code apparently.

This of course was not the "pre budget report" that they scrapped this was something totally different (Though it seemed like one). If they didn't want public sector workers to strike (Which is a fallacy because they do, it saves them money after all) that was a statement to encourage them, more job losses even higher than the supposed recalculation mentioned and a cap of 1% after a two year freeze.

Meanwhile the youth contract is a joke (I noted more time spent with JCP advisers, these would be the specially trained ones that were all got rid of in May I guess). There isn't time to be freed on staff levels in the Job Centre and any time freed will impact elsewhere on areas such as benefit fraud (a favourite of the Tories) and actual Job search help.

I guess the Civil Service employment freeze is still in force.

I have an almost uncontrollable urge to smash Danny Alexander's face repeatedly with a builder's shovel.

Jesus fucking fuck.

Danny Alexander reckons the rich are being hit. Some tax loopholes are being closed.
