I'm told the Standard didn't cover the story of Johnson swearing on camera about Tim Donovan, the BBC reporter, who'd revealed he was courting Murdoch while calling phonehacking "codswallop" and later having his deputy lean on the Met to scale back their investigation.

Again, substitute Livingstone and a dodgy black man, and imagine the difference.

There's a Weatherspoons around the corner from where I work, where I drop in for breakfast occasionally. It currently has a laminated article from the DM on the bar, with that bloke talking about how taxes for pubs're so terrible. I'm wondering if that's the landlord's idea or a chain-wide initiative - has anyone else seen one?

Libraries certainly seem like "extravagance" these days, at least. :(

Meanwhile the Tories on the GLA can never be accused of extravagance.

Boris Johnson's fire chief spends £1000 on lunch for Tory chums
Quote:
The man Boris Johnson charged with making huge cuts to London’s Fire Brigade has been slammed for spending thousands of pounds of taxpayers money on lunches for his chums.

The Tory Chairman of the London Fire Authority Brian Coleman, splashed almost £1000 this March on a three course meal, wine and flowers for a group of his fellow London Tories.

Swap Livingstone with Galloway, and Boris wouldn't look so smug. '5 would probably hobble him though if he ran.

May as well be a van Dyck painting ffs :/

As soon has the polls have closed Boris announces that he hopes to be a candidate in the 2015 General election. So basically if elected he will be mayor for two years then he will spend the next twelve months concentrating on becoming an MP again. I wonder how many people would have voted for him if they knew he wouldn't serve a full term?

Boris is a laugh, isn't he? In fact he's a feckin' legend.
I wish we could recall mayors.

This won't go down well at all.

Even with Gilligan.

Decide it might as well tell the truth in future.

Fraser Nelson- Boris has won London with tax cuts and confronting Europe.

The latter of course isn't just a matter of shooting his mouth off. And of course that 50p tax rate he cheered for has been a real winner.
