With the shit hitting the fan over poor economic growth the government have put Danny Alexander forward to defend economic policy.

Even Cameron isn't stupid enough to let Osborne anywhere near Paxo.

Discussion between Jacob Rees-Mogg, Tim Montgomerie and Kirsty Allsop.

Leftwing BBC.

Rees-Mogg says "penal" when he means "punitive", and doesn't like land taxes. Said Montgomerie (who wanted more tax on land, less on income, and to give tax cuts to others before the richest) had "gone socialist" and muttered something about him "owing his place to conservativehome". He also did the schtick about the wealthy paying lots of tax, without mentioning how much wealth and income they had.

He's a fool.

Doesn't say much for the standard of English teaching at Eton in the '80s does it?

They also spoke to two Tory MPs in the feature before the debate, about what's supposedly a Lib Dem policy. Rees-Mogg really is a complete loon, though. I don't think it's possible to be more of a stereotypical toff pillock than he is.

edit: it was amusing watching Kirstie Allsopp getting het up about her in-laws' tax arrangements. I expected her to come out with some flannel about the impact on house prices, but it was telling that she was more bothered about the fact her relatives might have to cough up.

Interesting to see that the more Junior Tories have at least one eye on how they'll do in the next election.

And then there was Kirsty wailing that "You can't do that because Mummy and Daddy will have to pay more tax" - Is she a fucking serious TV presenter?

I really ought to read ahead before commenting - apologies for the duplication.

Better move that to "Questions to which the answer is ...".

I'll follow up with.
Was that anything but an infantile "I want a poneee, I want one and I'll hold my breath" tantrum.

All that shouting across the other people and preventing the discussion moving on.
Darth Mog looked reasonable by comparison.

Paxo skewering Galloway now. George squirming as Paxo twists the knife. The pompous self-important twat.

Yeah, he was a twat. He came back pretty well in the later discussion.
