Ah, Milton Jones' House of Rooms. Did that ever get past a first episode?

He really does not suit sitcoms

Henning Wehn has a new radio show on BBC, talking about his observations on Britain after living here for ten years.

If you want a good example of a comedian trading on his nationality rather than just try to tell jokes people enjoy like most other comedians, you can't do better than Germany's own comedy uncle Tom.

Could be wrong but they only put out a pilot. Now Sirens that was a good comedy pity they cancelled it. :(

I first heard Henning Wehn on a rather poor R2 comedy thing called 'Out to Lunch'. He was part of the regular troupe on that revue show, and seemed to deliver pretty much the same set every week. Yes, very much a one-joke comedian.

Although he was alright on QI.

Can I add a type of TV programme to the list? I really have had it with shows where antiques experts buy antiques and then sell them in auctions and compare how much money they raise. When they're accompanied by members of the public it's bad enough. When it's just antiques experts, it's wrist-slittingly appalling. And more common than you might think.

I've enjoyed the few times I've heard him on the radio.
It'll be interesting to see whether he's been able to expand his material.

I saw him a few years ago in Faversham (!). He was pretty good but doesn't seem to have changed his act all since then. Also saw Trevor Lock, who was brilliant.

Not a 'who' but a 'what'. Those programmes where some fucking bastards with about fifty-million times more money than me um and ah about buying houses that most proles like me can barely even imagine in our wildest dreams. Oh, what's that? It's only got three and a three-quarter acres of land, but you really wanted four? Oh, hang on, let me go and get my violin. The shits!

Agree, kinda. Sometimes it's nice to see those houses and have a bit of a nosey, but I know what you mean.

I tend to wind up discussing what umpteen smaller things I'd be doing with that amount of money with whoever I'm watching with.

What do people here think of Frankie Boyle?.

Have nearly finished his second book and am really enjoying it. I like how its one part stand up show , but inbetween he gives his views on given subject, he always wraps up the chapter with something thought - provoking.

I cannot stand him. I think he goes out of his way to be offensive for the sake of it, not for any comedic value.

Can he be funny? Yes, he can. But I do *not* respect him as a comedian.

I quite like Frankie Boyle, I think Mock the Week is a poorer show for him not being on it anymore. And his stints as host of Buzzcocks have been superb.

He's right when he says comedy is too "safe" nowadays anyway. And I think hes right that somethings you laugh at because it kinda takes away the fear. I mean yes theres a time and a place for his comedy but you know. As for the Jordan/ Harvey controversy. I still say that it was really an attack on what a hypocrite she is but I'll admit he probably did get it wrong. And I have to say the last time he was on Buzzcocks (The Amy Child episode) was brilliant.
