Report here.

Quote:
Human rights group Amnesty International says Muslims who openly show their faith suffer widespread discrimination in Europe.

In a new report, the group urges Europe's governments to do more to challenge negative stereotypes and prejudices against Muslims.

In particular, it says Muslims face exclusion from jobs and education for wearing traditional forms of dress.

It also criticises the bans on Muslim women's veils passed in some states.

"Muslim women are being denied jobs and girls prevented from attending regular classes just because they wear traditional forms of dress, such as the headscarf. Men can be dismissed for wearing beards associated with Islam," the group's discrimination specialist Marco Perolini said.

"Rather than countering these prejudices, political parties and public officials are all too often pandering to them in their quest for votes."

Pass the popcorn, ladies and gentlemen - I suspect that Dacre Towers is about to go into overdrive. Let's see how the DM hierarchy of hate stands on Muslims vs. the French.

Whilst depressing, this is of absolutely zero surprise. I work in the construction/engineering sector and see this sort of this on a daily basis. It isn't just Muslims either.

What has happened in the last few years is that racism has shifted from overt to passive. This can be seen amply through the refusal to prosecute racist police officers, all the way through to the studies where identical CVs are sent to major companies - ones with English-sounding names have about 1,000% better chance of being called back.

Absolutely. But that won't stop the DM talking as though they had no idea about any of this and/or they're outraged by it, anyway.

Probably a bit inappropriate, but it's the only reaction I can think of:

That's what I was thinking.

I wonder if this can go in the 'news not reported in the Mail' thread?

It usually heralds a spate of vilify and attack the messenger, ending on Sunday when Hitch and MP emerge in toreador garb to deliver the coup.
So buckle in for stuff about lefties infiltrating amnesty, high paid board members at amnesty, misjudged campaigns by amnesty (They came out against South Africa, but never say a thing about Zimbabwe), and perhaps point out that many of amnesty's campaign subjects are in prison, hence criminals FACT.
