I said this about the "Muslims' fury forces schools to shelve anti-homophobia storybooks for 5-year-olds" story.

So instead of complaining that books are been removed by "Muslims", they complain that if they (good honest Christians) complained it wouldn't get listened to. Actually, shouldn't they be happy?

I can't help thinking the comments may have been more sypathetic had the 'offender' called Smith or something.

Story - A toddler pinches a sweet from Woolies pick n mix counter -

Mrs Khan, kids do understand if you teach them right from wrong. Theft is theft, end of.

- Anne, Wimbledon

Seems to be the vogue these days, kids unsupervised by their hopeless parents in supermarkets helping themselves to all sorts. I see it all the time and the parents don't care.

- Mike Randall, Worcester, England

Taking without paying is theft, doesn't mater what the value it remains theft.

- David, Bristol

Maybe she should stop paying her council tax rather than pinching a 20p sweet; the DM old faithful would be in support of that!

Neither book is in any way "sexual" so cannot be banned on the grounds of teaching young children about sexual matters. They're both books about love - something which many commentators seem to think only applies to heterosexuals apparently.

Well knock me down with a feather. I got through.

Ah, but the sweet cost 20p. As anyone who has weighed one grape at the till will attest, grapes are free.

When I lived in South London I often used to have to nip across the road to the local Tamil shop during a cooking session to grab ingredients that I'd forgotten I needed. This would usually lead to me putting a small piece of ginger on the scales, the woman behind the counter telling me it wasn't worth charging for and telling me I could have it for free, me insisting on paying at least something for it, the woman refusing, me insisting, etc. etc. until I eventually put 20p on the counter and made a run for it before she could give it back.

You don't get that kind of fun at a Tesco Metro.

As an aside, after studying Habermas and Arendt (i.e. Arendt said mass consumerism would turn is into biological entities, encased in steel, disparate and alone. Consumerism = good, but there are bad bits etc) a bit, that is what is bad to lose: basic interaction. People are scared of people on the street because A) there are twats, but B) because we want to withdraw into ourselves so much.

Anyway.

Public pool bars father & son from 'muslim-only' swimming session

Member of staff cocks up, Mail readers froth at the mouth.

Welcome to gutless, spineless England.

That's racial and religious discrimination and he should sue the council on both counts and for psychological and emotional damage. Strange sort of reverse apartheid being practised in England, and so soon after South Africa overturned theirs. The explanation sounds like a bit of back covering as well.

- Gary, Leicester, England

Do they have Christian only swimming sessions in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia?

- Mike Randall, Worcester, England

Quote:
Actually they do have Christian only sessions at swimming pools in Saudi Arabia. I am Jewish and me and another Muslim man were turned away from a pool in Jeddah because it had been hired out by a local Christian group. Males and females are always segregated as well.

- David Lewis, London, UK

A simple error blown up out of all proportion.

Anne Oswald, it is the views of people like you who stick their heads in the sand that are fostering the breakdown of this country.

- John, Poole

Well that's Anne told!

Yup, because only the other day i read 'All swimming pools to ban white people' oh yes indeedy.

I'd say the problem arose over fear, which is bred by newspapers in part, which are read by cunts.

I win

Did he take him up on this offer?

Mr Toube joked: "I asked him whether Clissold Leisure Centre would institute Whites Only swimming for racists. His answer was that they would if there was sufficient demand."

i liked this part, actually

What about Women-only swim sessions?

Or "ladies get in free nights" at clubs?

Or Christians wanting to refuse service to gay people?

And they wouldn't let me join the army because I'm too unfit. Thats discriminating against my lifestyle of being a lazy bastard.
