From the BBC website.
Ninety-nine arrested in paedophile abuse raids
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18442288

This story isn't covered by the Mail yet, but I trust when they do that they will be consistent and publish the details of the ethnic background and religious upbringings of every single detainee.

In a similar vein I presume that the EDL will hold protests outside all of any subsequent trails of the detainees rather than singling out any which happen to be Muslims and/or ethnic minorities (if indeed there are any).

In fairness I doubt they can summon the manpower to demonstrate after that many arrests.

Oh, it's been covered by the Mail: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2159263/Scout-leader-retired-teacher-members-Armed-Services-76-arrested-nationwide-paedophile-swoop.html but oddly enough it's failed to mention the religious beliefs or the nationality of any one.

This chap might turn up in the Mail, mind.

Its presence in the East London Advertiser is baffling.

A peeeedo who's a Muslim AND a worthless blood-sucking public sector worker, the Mailites will cream themselves over that one.

A ban on bangers: Hundreds of school pupils denied pork because of 'religious reasons'

That's right - hundreds of schoolchildren are being forced to go without sausages for one of their daily meals, all because of them Muslims. The mailites seem to think that a pork-based lunch is a fundamental right and that it's somehow cruel to deprive children of it.

Come on National Pig Association, stand up for the rights of pork eaters and sue the schools in question for discrimination. This is the thin end of the wedge that could finish your industry.

All the money spent on "equality" and then we find there are some more equal than others. The majority of people in this country have no problem with pork, in fact the country is built on it so I really dont see how it can be avoided by these minorities anywhere! What next a ban on pork production?

- Barry, Cumbria, 17/6/2012 6:57

Yeah, this country was built on pork

We built this city, we built this city on sausage rolls...

But seriously, what's wrong with showing someone just a little respect? They're schoolkids.

Nah. It's the Mail. Let's bully 'em.

Yes.
It calls itself the voice of the pig industry.

Oink?

Their leader has just got an MBE for Porcine Services. Seriously.
He's Digby Scott, and he edits Pig World magazine.

I thought Pig World was an ironically titled magazine for policemen.

In the light of Elvedon, that would be covered by Exchange & Mart.

I think the Mail might win for PC-Nonsense Jobsworths on this one.

Quote:
John Benjamin, chief executive of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, said it was simply not an issue and added that Jews of a certain level would choose not to eat in non-kosher environments.

Quote:
Muslim leaders have only ever asked that halal and non-halal meat be handled separately in an effort to avoid any cross contamination and for clear labelling when serving school dinners.

Quote:
Figures supplied by school caterer Pabulum, in the south-east of England, show that around 20 of the 48 schools it supplied chose non-pork options.

In Haringey's infant, junior and primary schools, 37 out of 47 have a no pork rule. In Bradford 24 out of 160 schools choose not to have pork and in Newham, east London, 25 out of 75 opt out.

Luton has 23 out of 57 schools which choose not to supply pork to pupils and in Tower Hamlets, east London, 85 out of 90 do not offer a pork option. All schools offer a vegetarian option.

The schools opted out to supply pork-containing products, according to their wording of the issue. It wouldn't surprise me if most of these schools are in heavily Muslim/Jewish community areas - I know parts of Bradford have high Islamic populations, for example.

As well as any possible religious objections, there's also the fact that it wouldn't exactly be cost-effective to supply pork in a school where the majority of kids (and probably staff) don't eat it.

Indeed. There's also the possibility that this was put to the parents before any decision was made.

That's a key point. Also nowadays the minimum requirement will be to have a pork-free alternative meal at each serving. If the kitchen or serving area can't provide adequate isolation of kosher/halal and non it is just simpler not to offer it. It isn't as though there are that many pork meals used in schools, effectively sausages, bacon and roast. Sausages are largely out because of other health concerns, bacon doesn't much figure in lunch menus (different for breakfast) and most roasts nowadays are lamb (no religious objections from anybody except Hindus and they'll probably take the veggie option anyway).

What seems to be changing is the parental attitude to halal and kosher. Once upon a time it was never mentioned, and segregation of foods was slack. The theory was that rules didn't apply as rigorously to children. Whether the change is due to increased 'militance' or greater confidence in demanding what people wanted all along I don't know.
