Worryingly, on BBC Midlands Today last night, several people they vox-popped came out with comments along the lines of 'Well, it's a bit heavy-handed, but if it keeps our kids safe it's worthwhile'. The result of years of peadophile scare stories in the Mail and its ilk.

The facile nature of such comments repeats itself.

'as long as our kids are safe'

yes, only psychos want otherwise. However....

Although I kind of hope it's not in some ways, just because the phrase 'political madness gone WRONG!!!!' is so awesome.

Yes, it makes you quite curious to see political madness when it's all right.

I'm worried I'll be castrated or something next time I browse in the children's section in Waterstones. All I want is some His Dark Material hardcovers...

Hardcovers eh son? If you'd like to come with us...

As for this park stalker nonsense, I've had an idea. More precisely I've stolen an idea from Mark Thomas and adapted it slightly.

Remember the 'mass lone protests' stuff from a while back? Well why not ditch the placards and have dozens of men walking around the park, each one entirely disconnected from the others? Worth a prank at least.

Did the children torn from their grandparents to be adopted by the gay men fall prey to a politically correct social services agenda?

This is indeed a fine start to 2009, Year of the PC Brigade. We are being blamed for destroying families, who'da thunk it?

That question's loaded and you know it- construct it in a way the Mail readers get their fill of prejudice without having to read on!

...and nice of the headline there to imply that they were taken into care just so they could then be adopted out to a gay couple.

Cripes! Boris's plan to celebrate St George (and to blazes with what the PC brigade think)

Quote:
Firemen, cab drivers, builders and others have been banned from displaying it, either through fears that it might upset ethnic minorities – or for a number of spurious reasons, such as health and safety.

I'll be willing to bet that the 'banning' of the flag was down to 'spurious' health and safety reasons, although H&S is far from spurious- oh I forgot, Littlejohn's done a grand job at ramming elf n safety down his disciples' throats so now everyone thinks it is a joke.

My submission for the comments section:

Quote:
This just sounds a bit tacky. The great thing about being English is that we are, in general, happy with our identity and don't need to resort to flag waving and nationalism to draw attention to ourselves.

I won't shout anyone down for waving English flags since I respect others' rights for doing so (not that I'll see too many in Scotland!) but I just don't see the point in doing so myself.

I'm expecting a formation of red arrows- if it even makes it past the mods that is.

A teacher who carried a pupil out of a classroom and put him in a cupboard to stop him telling a racist joke has been found guilty of assault.

Michael Becker, 62, claimed he told the boy to stop telling the joke up to four times before removing him from the class to stop him disturbing other pupil

Strange that so-called 'assault' trumps waycism as the most heinous of crimes against the little darlings in schools. You'd think it would pose a real conundrum for the PC lunatics who have taken over society, like the way the Religion of Peace treats women and gays.

Actually it's you Mailites that it's a puzzler for judging by the comments.
You think the teacher has been dealt with harshly. But is that because the kid "only" told a racist joke or that the teacher should be allowed to discipline kids as he sees fit?

A mixture of both I suspect. Quite frankly I don’t care how much of a little bastard he was being, manhandling a kid, to extent that marks where left on their skin, and locking them a cupboard is not an appropriate punishment for a teacher to dish out. I’m willing to be the Mailites tune would change pretty sharpish the second one of their little darlings was subject to this sort of treatment at school.

Any teacher who has to resort to the threat of the lash to keep order is a bad teacher. I come from a family of teachers and not one of them would ever consider corporal punishment as a form of discipline.

Cunt

Besides, when i was at school, kids who didn't behave were escorted from the classroom to the head-of-year office (or headteacher if it was really serious). This usually resulted in detention and a letter to the parents.

Isn't detention available to teachers anymore?
