The rest of us can enjoy the Olympics in the right spirit. By which I mean sitting on the sofa and viciously criticising highly-trained althletes at their physical peak for narrowly failing to do something the rest of couldn't even begin to attempt, whilst eating cheese.

Who cares? The economy is a mess; we are being taken over by EU; yobs rule the streets; our troops do not have adequate kit to fight the foreign wars they have been sent to and we cannot even get our rubbish collected! But we have a few medlas, so that will solve all the problems! Rubbish! We cannot even beat the Aussies! And most of them are the British who emigrated!

People should be worried about the fact that we are going broke, and will soon be sucked into the EU black hole! Medals do not help our country, and they do not provide essential care for cancer patients who cannot afford life-saving drugs! They make athletes richer, but not the average person, most of who paid taxes to help these athletes on their way.

It is Gordon Brown who has put the GB back in Great Britain. Under his stewardship and in just over a year, he has transformed the ccountry into worldbeaters!

In 18 months time we will se the triumphant return of Team GB, or Team Gordon Brown elected back into office by a grateful electorate!

For some strange reason your comment doesn't seem to have made it. If GB was doing rubbish you could bet your last penny they'd all be blaming Gordon McBroon. Today's Mail headline is GREAT TO BE BRITISH,with pictures of the medallists. I've got a feeling the Mail was sorely tempted to add in brackets beneath: "and not a black face among them."

Good to see our teams doing well, but the headline is wrong ... it hasn't been 'Great to be British' for quite some time.

My god? We're THIRD in the fucking medal table. Forgive me, but I can't remember any time when we've been vaguely near that figure before. The only nations outperforming us are the richest nation on the planet and a nation that encompasses over a billion people.

I'd say we're not doing too bad and all those moaning twats should shut up and cheer for once.

Still, it's all fantastic for us really! Well, I say "us", I mean "the athletes".

I'm no expert, but I think we're so high at the moment because the sports we're particularly good at have come up relatively early in the fortnight (cycling, rowing), but I think this week there are more of the things we're not as good at.
