Someone here with a slightly confusing definition of what 'obtaining money under false pretences' is:
Quote:
I would think this is classed as trying to obtain money by false pretences.
Why should any person individually be expected to pay for this white elephant. The farce of the 2012 Olympics will put GB into debt for 50 years and then may not even be paid off.
I would think it was classed as trying to obtain money by tax for an expressly stated purpose, but what do I know?

This couple are my new heroes. I agree 100% with what they're doing.
I couldn't give a 4X about any Olympic nonsense - it will not benefit me one jot and I am completely uninterested in all of it.
I wish them the very best of luck and they have my full support throughout their campaign.

Heroes, no less. They're Britain's answer to Aung San Suu Kyi or Gandhi.

To keep two OAPs in jail for three months each would surely cost more than £33-33 per head? And the time, energy and stipends of Court officials? Surely the Council - without creating this negative publicity - could just quietly write off the amount in their Profit and Loss accout?

I love that, sticking up for the 'principles' of these two, but deriding the government for sticking to its principles of pursuing its taxes. The government can't simply write taxes off whenever someone doesn't fancy paying for it, that would set a terrible precedent.

Most of us aren't interested int eh games any way so why should we pay?
BECAUSE IT'S A MOTHERFUCKING TAX! I'm not sick, why should I pay for all these fucking sick kids on dialysis?

And I bet the room will be found in prison for this dangerous threat to society.

Prison: only for violent criminals.

Quite right!
Either this tax should be spread over the whole country - or, more preferably, it should be a voluntary payment.
Haha, good luck to trying to find billions of pounds from people prepared to voluntarily stump up an unspecified amount for an event four years away!
