Strangely, there are no new stories about (alleged) teen parents Alfie and Chantelle ion the Mail's site today, and there weren't any yesterday either -- with the exception of some insightful commentary in Allison Pearson's column.

What could have caused the Mail to drop such a popular story so suddenly, I wonder?

A judge has stopped the press from revealing any new details: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/art ... gD96E8LD80

But under Wednesday's ruling, imposed by High Court Justice Florence Baron, journalists are prohibited from reporting any new details of the case — including any information that could prove or disprove Alfie's paternity.

Following a court hearing in private, a statement was read to reporters explaining the judge's reasons for making the order.

It said part of the reason was the young ages of the mother and father, and that "the private and family life of the mother and her baby has been disrupted to such an extent that the judge was concerned about the mother and baby being unable to live a normal family life." The judge was also reportedly concerned about the privacy of Alfie and the other potential fathers.

This one - on this story - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... tards.html
is quite enjoyable

"Whats the problem here? Firstly, the teacher is probably telling the truth. Secondly, children who have "learning difficulties" are officially called "retards" in the USA. mike"

Where do I begin? Firstly, this is a mainstream primary school, the likelihood is that most of the pupils do not have learning difficulties and are certainly not "retards". Secondly, even if they were, we are not in the USA, in this country it is offensive on any basis to call a child a retard. Thirdly, I would not expect any school to tolerate a child calling someone else a retard, and they are absolutely right not to tolerate this in a supply teacher. Fourthly, Mike, given your own problems with basic English grammar, you clearly weren't paying too much attention in school yourself.

I'm struggling to find a word to describe "mike" that doesn't offend my own politically correct sensibilities.

Strangely, a lot of the commentators support the teacher with suggestions that he was just speaking the truth. Which is quite mysterious, because you would think a number of them must have children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews etc in state primary schools, yet they are happy to say that primary school classes are full of retards

Wilful blindness. Obviously, it's only those nasty kids from the council estate who are retards. Their offspring are prapper wee renaissance men.

Thing is, I had a teacher once call me a retard (I was 17 at the time, though) and the notion it's in any way acceptable or correct needs to be taken out and shot.

Their children are fine, it's the others.

All this has been tried before and without success. Bring back the birch and hammer in some respect. I remember the days when a quick clip behind the ear solved most problems as the youth would not dare tell this father that a policeman had clipped his ear as he'd get another from Dad. Bring back Respect for the Law, Property and for one another and start with Parent first.

The hammer, ffs? Since when was bashing people's brains out viewed as a normal method of exerting discipline?

Sounds like some kind of super-ASBO. If this was the current government's idea the headline would read NOW LABOUR WON'T LET YOU LEAVE YOUR OWN HOME.

I thought kids getting hammered was seen by Mailites as a major cause of anti-social behaviour?

The thing about the policy is that is says that kids who are believed to be a problem. So they're in effect, punishing kids who haven't been charged or convicted of anything plus there's no hope of them actually making sure the policy sticks.

Another bandwagon jumping, badly thought of policy by the Tories.

A Decade Of Delinquency - sharp rise in youth crime since LieBore.

This problem stems from the school playgrounds. Children from all sorts of backgrounds get together. Only there is never anyone there to monitor them or watch what they are up to. Also the non support for familys who raise there children in the moral sense. This government has worked hard to destroy the family unit and look at the results. The evidence is there. I saw this coming twenty years ago.

"Children of all sorts of backgrounds get together"?? - What could she mean?

"Non-support for familys who raise children in the moral sense"? - What does she a want, a fucking medal every time her child tidies their room?

"I saw this coming twenty years ago" - Ah! so what you're saying is that Thatchers policies pushed us towards the 'anarchy' we see now! Interesting.
