David Cameron is the most popular thing about the party, it's more than likely that if he was ousted that they would collaspe into the high 20's. They always said that oppositions don't win elections, government's lose them.

Displaying their usual contempt for facts and evidence, the Mail readers assume that the reason the Tories aren't doing better in the polls is because they aren't right-wing enough.
Hague, Howard and IDS were all trounced despite being up against a highly controversial Labour pm and Cameron, in opposition, only made the Tories look electable again by apparently bringing them back to the centre.

I have still yet to hear from the Eurosecptics, who claim that they are the majority, an explanation for the failure of the Eurosecptic parties to attract a larger proportion of the vote and to win any seats.

Reading the comments in the Mail, one would expect to see UKIP way out in front in the polls.

They're not called the 'silent' majority for nothing

As I've said before, it reminds me of my Militant Tendency friends from the 'eighties, convinced that people weren't voting Labour because Kinnock wasn't left wing enough. They were wrong, just as the mailtards are wrong. But who cares?

They (UKIP) nearly overtook the Lib Dems in one poll when the key topic of debate was Europe .... That apparently was a success.

They're a small protest group, they are bigger now than they were a few years ago, but no-way can they be described as speaking for the majority.

That's the thing about political parties claiming to represent the majority. It sort of loses credibility when they aren't voted in.

They're not a majority because the other three parties are all the same and supported by their media partners to maintain a left wing pro-Europe junta. Sure everyone knows that.

Given that by this token, UKIP is calingl voters for any other party (and thusly, their own potential voters) thick and easily led, it comes as little surprise they go over like the proverbial bucket of cold sick.

Miliband gets voted in and the UK right wing media will go into completely new realms of overdrive like they did, are doing, with Obama (as Obama is a typical Dem and not a flip flopper like Clinton).....

Mark my words.

Cameron faces fresh New Year honours row as it emerges FOUR Tory donors have been given gongs

Quote:
David Cameron faced an honours row today after it emerged at least four Conservative Party donors were given awards in the New Years list.

Paul Ruddock - whose firm Lansdowne Partners made £100million during the credit crunch by betting on the price of Northern Rock shares plunging - has been awarded a knighthood.

Fellow Tory donors James Wates, former Aston Villa chairman Doug Ellis and investment banker James Lupton were all also given honours.

Positive comments thus far:

Quote:
Nothing like a good old slice of Tory sleaze to start the New Year. Don't forget folks, we're all in this together.....

- Wayne Sullivan, Billericay, England, 1/1/2012 13:40 124

Quote:
Once again Cameron proves himself the master PR man. Virtually every policy he espoused during the election has either been ditched or trimmed, from the NHS to immigration, City and banking reform to deficit reduction. Yet the public love him for a policy he never announced, picking a fight with Europe. Ho hum, we shall just have to wait a little longer for the public to suss this particular fraud out.

- Michael Edwards, Leeds UK, 1/1/2012 13:40 104

Quote:
Cameron you are meant to be sorting out parliamentary corruption not adding to it.

Ah another reason to hate Doug Ellis... What were his reasons why he started to support Aston Villa back in the 90's again?

Cameron's supermarket sweep: PM queues up in Morrisons... but was it just a publicity attempt to paint himself like the rest of us?

If you mean Cameron, his uncle is a former chairman. However, over the past few years he's gone from no interest in football, to nominal interest but not really bothered, to Villa supporter.

It begs the question - why would anyone think that's a good idea? PR Dave all over.
