*sigh* why didn't heed that warning. gah, well, i'm not wading through them again here, but a fair number seem to be riffing in this tit-bit from the article itself...

I got a newsletter yesterday at work (I work in public health). Detalied stats show <18 pregnancy rates are, and have been for some time, declining, both at local and national level.

It doesn't even make grammatical sense. "Come fly with he" just reads all wrong. It should be "him / her", but then they lose the pun. So pun > grammatical accuracy. Just imagine if they'd done this in a Mosque?

fairly standard (likely churned) article, which wouldn't be too bad but for the mails unfailing references to the man in question as "she".

comments not toooo bad, though not because of a sudden about-face in the readers compassion, but because 95% of them are just pointing out over and over that the mother was once on come dine with me about 3 years ago.

(also, "long-lost" is not the same as "estranged")

OK, firstly, the main protagonist of this article is a knob. That much I agree with:

Call me a boring old fart if you like, but if I was a fun-loving mortuary attendant I'd steer clear of having my photo taken arsing about with a severed head precisely because of this scenario playing out.

...He was never transgender. He should be angry at the NHS for going through it if he never needed it. But to say that the rest of us are deluded is highly insulting, regardless of whether he thinks he has the rights because he used to be a woman.

Sorry to snip you there, but using the Charles Kane case to claim trans-gender people "deluded", is imo, about as useful as saying people who have cancer are "deluded" because someone with munchausens once managed to get treatment they didn't need.

I don't think the claim that all transgender people are deluded was being made. I think the claim was that Charles Kane is deluded.

I didn't see much sense with the second half of your statement but it does not look like you were being a self important tosspot (rather it was an emotional response, or at least that's how it appears).
