Restaurant 'served boy 12th birthday cake with naked breasts on it'

Group of eighth graders taken to Hooters for lunch... while on school field trip
(Same file photo for both.)

The American chain, where waitresses wear next to nothing, has just opened in Britain. So what did LIZ JONES make of it?

So Hooters is a good thing then?

First article I've read by her that I agree with.

Does she disagree with Hooters because it degrades women, or because it attracts 'common' people? I think we all know the answer to that one.

the comments on the liz jones hooters article are deeply unpleasent. i don't like much of the womans writing, but if the best counter argument you can muster is "i don't like your breasts" you've not really got one at all.

My knowledge of Hooters is based entirely upon an episode of Undercover Boss I watched a while back (in which the manager of one branch was exposed as a horrible sexist cunt - quelle surprise  ). However complaining about a breast shaped cake in a restuarant full of scantily clad waitresses seems like rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic to me. It's called Hooters ffs, that's a bit of a clue as to the kind of place it is - isn't it? As for the twelve year old boy - I rather agree with Jonathon Ross's comment ‘When I was young and stupid I’d probably have thought it was fun. Glad I’ve grown up!’

Why is it the fault of the restaurants and not the parents, exactly?

Much as is my opinion of the Playboy club, who cares? It's a bit of fun.

Since a 12 year old boy can oogle womens breasts in the red tops (and in this rag sometimes) this really is a non-story

Doesn't anybody find that (and this doesn't just apply to the mail) this seems a bit like they've sent Liz Jones there just because they know she'll be offended.

They did the exact thing on the BBC about the new anti-sexy music videos the other day, they showed a mother a few videos of scantily clad women dancing around to see if she agreed with the proposed new laws.

Her reaction was almost textbook.

That's how it works.

Unless you really believe that Liz Jones is an investigative journalist and Dacre gives her free rein to follow whatever leads she thinks would help illuminate her redership.

And it hasn't even 'just opened'. I went with my dad (But I kept saying I didn't want to bother my mum while she was at work!) years and years ago.

Me, my brother and cousin were too young to really be interested in the women, so we just enjoyed the giant burgers while my dad and uncle did a bit of light perving. TBH, it's not like taking a kid to a strip club, it's just women* in tight t-shirts.

As for the boob cake story, my first thought was "who complained?". Did the kid's parents take him to Hooters and were they then suprised by the presence of.....hooters?

*Not in a "they're only women" way, I just mean it's a pretty mild thing to be offended by.

Exactly. Whose idea was the cake? Who made it? Hooters is a fast food chain, not confectioners.
Their website claims that a Brighton branch is opening in early 2011, but we are long past that.

I love the idea of "a bit of light perving". :D

It was probably about 15 years ago, at most, that I went, it was in Paradise Forums in Birmingham, it's now a Wetherspoons. Maybe they shut them all and are having a relaunch, and this is a handy bit of PR, who knows?

I seem to remember another cousin being given a 'boob' cake (from Tesco if I'm not mistaken) while in the first few years of secondary school. I don't think it's ruined his life.

At least the commenters don't seem to give a shit.
