Oh the muck's already so thick, I don't know what I'd look like underneath.

She definitely reads the Mail, does PC-gorn-mad woman. Probably the local paper as well. Still, it was dark and the pubs were emptying, and I trusted that neither she nor her husband was going to molest me. I suppose I wanted to show gratitude for that. It's sobering to think that, at a moment of insecurity, I sheltered with Mail readers. PLU. We're not as different as I might want to believe.

Heh. I was you'd asked her how a bus driving off was a bit too politically correct though!

I think she meant health and safety (the roads were getting snowier). I'm totally pedantic enough to pick people up on that usually.

Today's dog whistle story.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2100408/Taxpayers-foot-120-000-civil-servant-gets-27-000-expenses-travel-Lake-District-home-London-job.html

Some truly bizarre comments, as expected.

Quote:
Nobody else in work in Britain is allowed to get paid travel expences too and from the job, so why are our civil, or uncivil servant in this case getting this money, this is a disgrace.
- S. I. Mather, Bradwell, UK, 13/2/2012 16:07

Eh? I think you'll find it's more common than you think, S. I.

And it all boils down to Mailite jealousy - "Why aren't MINE paid for, too. Wha, wha ,wha!"
Quote:
Perhaps David Cameron will tell us why her commuting costs are paid but not everyone elses.

Civil servants working for the Home Office are being baked cupcakes and served tea by the department's permanent secretary in a bid to boost morale.

Scandalous!

Heaven forbid that civil servants should be allowed a few minutes of camaraderie with management. Next they'll want treating as human beings.

Is the Mail running this story (lifted from the Times, and taken completely out of context) because Ms Ghosh is a woman? I doubt that Dacre is a fan of these feminised workplaces where workers are encouraged to talk to each other and managers are interested in creating a pleasant work environment. No, it's far better to call everyone a cunt: if they can't handle it, they can go somewhere else.

We'll hit the Olympics in war on cuts, warns union baron as he steps up campaign
'Red Len' McCluskey threatens illegal protests if necessary

Strange how the Mailtards suddenly support the Olympics isn't it?

Well that's all these well paid clowns know! What does it need for some people to realize that cuts are not imposed because the government wish (it is not in their interests to turn voters against them), but by economic conditions. It is tantamount to treason that people should seek to take advantage of one of the the worst financial recessions in history to possibly plunge us into even more misery. If anyone wanted to see how the Greek people live but can't afford the plane fare, then back these left-wing anarchists!

The Olympics will no doubt degenerate into farce one way or the other, whether the unions give it a helping hand or not. But I don't think the public at large is really that arsed about the whole corporate feeding frenzy anyway, at least not to the degree the media constantly makes out. I can't wait for it to be over and done with so the press can finally shut the fuck up about it.

In any case, if it's disruption people are worried about, why bother hosting the Olympics in the first place? Commuting around London is bound to be a complete pain in the arse whilst they're on.

I caught the first couple of minutes, saw some bellend talking head billed as a 'headhunter' bleating on about public sector 'whinging' and felt my blood pressure rising, so I switched it off. I always used to think Laura Kuenssberg wasn't too bad when she was working for the Beeb, but she seems to have descended to ITV's level since making the move over there. She was also citing completely unsubstantiated anecdotal evidence as some sort of argument against the 50% tax rate today.

He also loses points for not capitalising - "Brave Men & Women". Our boys are spinning in their graves.
