This talks about boiling the full jars to make a vacuum seal. Not sure how that works tbh - anyone enlighten me?

Maybe that's bottling fruit, then. You can also use Milton to sterilise the jars, apparently.

Yes, the second boiling causes a vacuum. I can't remember her ever using greaseproof paper.

This is the sort of jar - I bought a load for #1 son, but I'm not sure what he used them for. I use them for storing bay leaves, bouquets garnis, salt - stuff I need to keep dry and airtight.

The hot air in the airspace above the jam contracts as it cools, forming a partial vacuum. Doesn't do anything to help preservation by itself, but makes a very good seal against the rubber ring.

Superb example of Mail morality in the comments. In a nutshell, people have been printing multiple copies of coupons and getting away with using them when they clearly state that it's one coupon per person. That seems like the clearest case of theft to me. However in Mailland it's apparently fine to steal from supermarkets because (cue irritating whine) they sometimes make mistakes over pricing, or the commenter has an irrational hatred of BOGOF promotions (answer - just buy one, nobody stands at the till and forces the second item into your bag if you don't want it), or hates Tesco because the Mail tells them to, or whatever. I thought Mail readers were supposed to be so keen on morality and Christian values? Can't remember the bit in the Bible where it says 'it's ok to steal from a large company but not from an individual'.

Stealing from big shops wasn't OK when the riots were on.

Whereas retired people in expensive houses and good pensions- hard pressed families, isn't that the term?

And I forgot that, as the Standard put it, shopkeepers were living above the shops and terrified. Some were, and throw the book at the racists (?) who did that.

I haven't noticed many flats on top of PC World though.

dailyheil, your getting it wrong. It's not "feral youth". It's "yoof" OK "yoof".

Littledick will get all upset and cry if you spell it correctly.

It's like "Nu" when using the word "New" when describing the name of a political movement.

Epic fail on the right-wing troll lesson #1 there. We all know it's preceded by "Za". Back to troll school...
