As I said I've only just started "1000 years .." but yes "Merde" was excellent.
Not tried George East, I'll give it a go.

My favourite quote is from Sir Frank Stenton's volume of the Oxford History of England, p687:

Quote:
The Normans who entered into the English inheritance were a harsh and violent race. They were closest of all western peoples to the barbarian strain in the continental order. They had produced little in art or learning, and nothing in literature, that could be set beside the work of Englishmen. But politically, they were the masters of their world.

Little in Art???
What about Two little boys or Tie me Kangaroo down?

Yeah, cos the Hardraada Tapestries have certainly stood the test of time. Oh and by English I assume you mean that German-Latin-Norse-Gaelic-Pictish melting pot that conveniently manages to become one national identity whenever it suits your thinly planned "political" viewpoint?

No?

At least we can console ourselves knowing we have a totally separate royal lineage.

Those Norman Cathedrals look OK to me.

The Frenchie style was so shit and inferior to the English that Edward the Confessor used it before the Conquest for Westminster Abbey.

The 'hugely unpopular' M. Sarkozy has a 5% better popularity rating than Cameron's Tories... And of course the 'we saved you in the war' shitheads are out. 'Cos it wasn't in our interests to confront German aggression at all, was it?

Sarkozy is a 'right winger'. Isn't that one of the things 'right wingers' are supposed to do? Try to demonstrate how their country is better than other rival countries?

You know like wot the Daily Mail does all the time?

Oh the English and their hypocrisy......

The fact that Jason from London will never go to Paris just makes it an even nicer place to visit than it already is, I think it is one of the most beautiful cities on earth. He also manages to strengthen all my prejudices against Florida at the same time. Well done Jason.
