Sort of foreigner-related - I've got this thing on Firefox that displays a little flag on the browser to show where websites are based. I don't know how accurate it is (and I have no ideas how servers work) but apparently Mailonline's server is based in Chile - which seems strange, seeing as the Mail is so against outsourcing stuff to foreign countries. Is there any way to check if that's true? I mean, it seems to be accurate with other websites...

That's a negative. Well, probably "forrin" to most Mailtards.

Server IP address: 195.234.240.212

Global positioning: 54.166997, -4.482106 = Isle of Man (Douglas)

I would reckon they're using a bit of jiggery and a lot of pokery to hide that info from potential hackers - but, like everything else associated with the MailOnLine... they're a bit shit at doing their job.

Well that's a relief.
I've just spent a bit of time hunting for evidence that Chile was about to side with Argentina.
I found none.

So Mailonline's served in the Isle of Man eh, how apt, what with their love of spanking and homophobia.

I wonder if Clarkson knows this? He's got a house there, has he not?

Radical plan to create new Midlands city on green belt land to cope with population growth

Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... z1qCY0bXmC

This article is ostensibly about planning laws, but looking at the top-rated comments the reference to "population growth" has obviously acted as a dog-whistle:

would not be overcrowding if someone had the balls to lock the doors.

Wouldn't it be better to limit the size of the uk population now?? There are enough people here. A large portion are breeding like rabbits. That has to be enough....you build more towns and cities and more people will think its fine to move here.

In keeping with all things british these days, this new town/city should be given an international name. I propose we call it Mecca.

Have you picked a suitable name for it yet? Possibly "New Karachi." Or is this to house the white flight?

I disagree with the comments, but agree with their spirit.

There's only a good number of abandoned houses lying around. Plenty near me. Couldn't hurt to do those up first, could it?

I believe sometime around the late 90s councils in Yorkshire where offering their empty housing stock to people on waiting lists in London boroughs. In the end I don't think many stayed, due to lack of jobs and racism in some areas.

Shows map with lots of orange but UK is red. Now I'm scared.
Or is it a long range weather forecast?

They've found another angle to bash the London Olympics from I see, with added forin-bashing as well. Two birds with one stone, nice work DM.

The roundabout people: Jobless migrants forced to set up tent village and go fishing at a nearby lake

Sorry if this has already been discussed elsewhere - the comments under this are fucking atrocious. Anyways, something doesn't make sense in the artice...
Quote:
The council’s cabinet member for housing, counsellor Mary Markham said: 'We think they’ve moved to Northampton having been unable to find work in Peterborough and other areas.

'Unfortunately their status is such that they’re not eligible for housing benefit or council housing and, from what they’ve told us, they’re struggling to find employment.

What? What happened to the free cars, plasma TVs, and 15-bedroom council mansions that immigrants are supposed to get?

"Cattle class"? Charming. Bet Nanuk wishes that they could just be shuttled off to a nice Zyklon-B shower instead. It, and the 955 who've green-arrowed it, are all worthy CotD contenders. Bloody shameful.

Reading those comments I feel it can only be a matter of time before someone suggests eating them.

I think some of the Mailturds would quite readily respond to the call of the wild.

Odd thing happening. Got some "complaint" emails form the ShiteRag's moderation monkeys. Some have a time on them which corresponds to UK time at the moment but others have a GMT -8 time - US west coast.

Interesting.
