'I'm 25 stone but I feel beautiful....and happy with my health': Morbidly obese teenager enters beauty pageant for supersize women

I really hate the expression "morbidly obese" when used outside of a medical environment. It sounds worse than "super obese" but in fact corresponds to a lower BMI.

She doesn't read the Mail, then.

Are super-size clothes making children fatter?

A truly bizarre article. Undoubtedly there's a bit of a problem in the UK with people being overweight for whatever reason, but it seems strange to wag the finger at M&S for supplying clothes that schoolchildren can fit into.

Quote:
The bottom line is that plus size clothes for children are big business and stores are scrambling to cash in.

Quote:
‘That High Street stores are routinely stocking outsize clothes for children is extremely worrying.
‘There is an entire industry springing up around obesity, one that seems designed to make being hugely overweight acceptable in a way smoking or binge drinking isn’t.

Quote:
High Street retailers are happily catering for the fact we are a nation of gluttons. Making plus sizes for adults who haven’t got the self-control not to gorge themselves into morbid obesity is one thing, but plus sizes for children are sickening.

What on earth does Frances Childs think the stores should do instead then? Ban sales of anything over size 10 and send them to school wearing a sack?

And finally, what seems to be an incredibly spiteful and mean-spirited caption under the picture of some smiling children. Go and fuck yourself, The Mail.

Have we really gone there? M&S plus size for children, like these models, was launched in 2010

In related news, wind is caused by trees waving, and farts by people saying "Was that you?".

Inaccurate use of 'morbid obesity' again.

I went into a moderately fashionable clothes shop for young people yesterday (I know, I know). In the jeans section there were three different ranges available, two of which were labelled 'skinny fit' and 'super slim fit'. I could barely have squeezed my arms into the latter. I doubt that one teenager in five could wear even the biggest size on offer (a 30-inch waist).

Lesson of the day: fat people do not deserve nice clothes.

When you're tall, skinny and male it's just as much fun, believe me...

But squirrel's a different think out in your neck of the woods isn't it Rob?
A subdivision of critter that's not a gater, snake or steer.

These were North American Gray squirrel. Otherwise known as vermin in the UK.

Raccoons and possums are critters; possibly coyote too.....

Possums are the Virginia Opossum and not their cute Australasian relations.

Judging by the level of roadkill they are the US equivalent of hedgehogs.

What your wobbly bits say about you

The Mail's list doesn't include "You don't give a fuck".

What a load of woo. Having large calves means you're tired?! What if it's because you exercise a lot? The whole thing is just PR for some pricey nutritionists.

Nutritionist - the name for someone who failed to become a proper dietician.
