To be fair to Rupes though (ugh, I feel soiled), Sky don't seem to be doing their usual trick of sticking their head in the sand when a huge sporting event that they're not covering is taking place, and from what I've seen the coverage in The Sun and The Times has been pretty positive.

Of course, it might have something to do with the fact that you get Sky, you can watch the 24 BBC Channels as well. (Although of course this is not the only way)

I think it has everything to do with the fact that it sells newspapers. And in turn, earns him a few shekels to offset that division's massive losses. That's it.

That story in the Independent about NBC's coverage of the Olympics is hilarious when you think that they sent over their own camera crews to London because they felt that the BBC & OBS wouldn't do a good enough job!

Can the Mail find a BBC bashing angle on Mark Thompson's new job?

BBC chief Mark Thompson headed to U.S. after bagging top job at New York Times

Your comments sounds like a Dacre edict.

Comments not moderated. Right...

I really think that Leveson should have looked at the way comments are used to validate the opinions (editorial opinions) expressed in pieces like this.

Would there be any point in pointing out that he's doing a totally different job, with a commensurate budget? Thought not.

I'm miffed by this. I've been a firm leftist all my life. Why am I not DG of the BBC?

What are these emss? Where can I get one? Or is it a just a stupid typo that highlights the lack of intelligent capacity shown by the hard-of-thinking, shaved monkey Mailtards commenting on this article.

A Mailwatcher in the making but I fear a certain word will soon be appearing on a banned list near you.

Funny his new salary at NYTimes is not mentioned isn't it? I bet it is a fraction of the bloated package he got at the BBC. Most of these "top" civil servants are grossly overpaid ; and most would struggle to find a job in the private sector even at half their current level - but our govt. keeps employing them across the board not just the BBC. - Andy Stone, Hull UK, 15/8/2012 12:30 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you don't have any facts just make some up and then complain about it. The intelligence of Mailtards (I like that word) is staggeringly low. Let me guess, you intend to vote ukip?

Odd. I never realised the New York Times was so popular in Leeds. Granted it beats the Evening Post hands down (which is not a hard thing to do) but still…

And another one. Probably no need to post these but it's heartening to know that there are more kindred spirits out there. :D

I think that the Mail weltenschauung - Dacre's Dystopia - isn't shared by that many, it's the strenuous efforts of the moderators that make it look like a serious point of view rather than the toothless grumblings of society's sweepings.
