Nobody here is saying this story shouldn't be told or attempting to derail it. Nobody is trying to keep it quiet. Nobody is apologising for it. One comment - just one - touches on a similar topic. The debate then continues. I fail to see why you have such a vehement objection to that one comment being made.

Because her point is irrelevant as Althea says but you chose to highight it, seeing it as relevant because it was about men.

Yes, I did chose to highlight it. Not because it was about men, but because as I said, it showed the Mail mentality of wrapping up whatever point might be made in self-interest and generalisation. That, to me, made it relevant to this topic.

On the story about the stalking kangaroo.

Quote:
If she hadnt listened to the feminist stalking charities and accused the kangaroo of stalking then it may not have got so mad. Not the first time violence follows such accusations, and proof that if the perpertrator is naturally violent a restraining order is a waste of time. Although as a female stalker (kangaroo was female) she probably would have got let off without charge.

Moment two men had to leap out of the way as out-of-control fire engine (being driven by a woman) crashes into shop window

It is believed that the female firefighter may have been attempting a three-point turn

She [the woman firefighter] slowed down at the junction of Trafalgar Road and attempted a three-point turn.

Quote:
The female firefighter drove the vehicle straight into the building. The removal of the vehicle took three hours

Quote:
It took a whole team of service staff and firefighters to remove the fire engine after the female driver attempted a three-point-turn at high speed

I think it may have been driven by a woman. Let's see if the mailtards concur.

It wasn't an accident, it was a hissy fit... She had asked for a different paint job on the fire engine because it clashed with her lipstick. When her bosses refused, she saw red....literally.

SAS free British aid worker kidnapped last month in 'breathtaking and extraordinarily brave' night-time helicopter raid on cave deep in Taliban territory

Now, get yourself back to Britain you silly woman and do some aid work for deprived people here! There are plenty of them and they might appreciate your efforts!!!

The SAS were enjoying themselves Ann. They should thank this woman for helping them to go out and have some 'fun'.

Someone recoils when another individual unexpectedly lurches towards them whilst retching, proof if ever it were needed that the little ladies aren't cut out for the rigours of political life.

To be honest I'd probably have stared blankly as well. Not because I'm a woman but because I don't know a lot of first aid and I'd probably be rather surprised. And want to let trained people deal with it. But of course as a creature whose first impulse is to nurture, she should have clasped him to her bosom and administered the kiss of life before taking off her shoes and heading to the kitchen to make him a nice hot toddy.

Seen the clip. It's not as if she stared for minutes. if she did. so does everyone else. She puts her hand on him as others join in. What is she expected to do ? Give CPR ?

The way that was written up made it sound as if he dramatically collapsed at her feet and she ignored him. He doubled over and she looked at him confused for a few seconds before anyone reacted.

Which, of course, is the reaction anybody may have. A year ago, I had a (thankfully one-off) epileptic fit at work. I don't remember anything about it (or the hour beforehand), but people said at first they thought I was messing around/in shock and it was a fair few seconds before anyone reacted.

Men were right all along. Our hormones DO make us women irrational...

By Rachel Ragg

Gosh what are we like girls.....

Where to start with this collection of anecdotes about hormonal ladies being mad, bad and dangerously violent (hit and run driver - yikes!).

But a least there is some good advice for PMS sufferers:

Quote:
Nicki’s GP prescribed vitamin B6 tablets. Vitamin B6 plays a vital part in moderating the brain chemicals that control mood and behaviour.
Several trials have suggested it is effective in managing symptoms of PMS, morning sickness and hormonal side-effects of the pill —

or maybe not:

Quote:
— though further studies have highlighted neurological risks, such as loss of sensation in the hands and feet as well as permanent nerve damage. It is also not effective in all cases.

At least the author's name deserves a childish smirk.

This is absolutely pathetic.

It's all very well for the keyboard warriors to say, with time for thought, "I would have done this and that" but when it actually happens, sometimes you don't know how to react. She looks shocked and then attempts to comfort him which was the best she could have done. And as she didn't know what was wrong with him, she may have thought that attempting to move him wasn't the best idea until somebody trained got in there to deal with the situation.

Which -unless someone is in immediate danger- is exactly the right thing to do, any paramedic or first aider will tell you that - if you don't have first aid training or don't know what's going on, don't make things worse by guesswork.

The latest celeb to come under fire from the Mail's band of armchair sneerers is 67-year-old Debbie Harry. Story includes this appalling combination of inelegant writing, cliché and breathtaking condescension:

Quote:
The psychedelic style was hardly the right choice for one of the most iconic female rockers in history who should be embracing her years of experience.

I think the journalist, Leah Simpson, should be embracing her lack of talent by looking for something else to do for a living.
