The Mail is very light on European News except for Immigration scare stories.

I thought I would start this thread in case anything positive came along.

Nothing much except mobile tariffs recently.

Consider this tread if anything constructive is reported.

In the absence of any Euro News in the Mail of late ,does Scotland count as the next best thing. The Mail spin is very similar.

The New Apartheid

The Scots get life saving drugs denied the English, pay no tuition fees, provide free care for the old and will soon have free prescriptions. Could this explosive divide shatter 300 years of union?

Nothing from Drew on this one yet!

I commented on this story. I did suggest that if the others were so keen to end the Union and Scotland's 'subsidy', then they should. We would keep our oil revenue and spend our money on public services, health and education, and they could have back the Trident missile fleet and the nuclear weapons storage and handling facilities. Then from THEIR tax they could pay for: ID cards, a new Trident submarine base (not to mention the Holy Loch US nuclear submarine base), Son of Trident, the Son of Trident submarines, the gaping hole left by Scotland's departure in personnel and material in the armed forces, nuclear waste dumps, importation of oil, Tanker offloading facilities and oil storage depots. And you wonder why the Tories are not speaking up about this 'unfairness'. Who wants to be the PM that has to decide whether Portsmouth, Plymouth or The Solent gets he privilege of a Trident submarine base, or whether a nuclear waste dump should be placed in either Yorkshire or Surrey?

At last a bit of EU news combinded with a bit of Blair smiting.

Historic EU deal, but at what price?
by BENEDICT BROGAN and JAMES CHAPMAN

The German people were criticised for not overthrowing the dictator, Hitler . Will our generation not be similarly criticised for allowing Blair to dictate all our childrens future without reference to US?. The Germans were told that they did not merely have a right to overthrow a dictator, it is a solomn duty of every free man(woman). Are we to submit to this tyranny? Are we to just sit bleating to the Daily Mail while we are led like lambs to the slaughter? People took to the streets in opposition to the pole tax, isnt this a much more serious issue.? The very existence of our nation is threatened, is it not time to beat Drakes Drum?

Another Blair and Brown triumph! How different to the Tories who sold the country short over Maastricht!

wait a moment, is pete comparing tony blair to hitler?

tony blair - most successful labour prime minister ever, expanded economy, created less bigoted society, made balkans safer and removed dictator from iraq - unpopular among a small section of british middle class who don't like paying a bit more tax and are shocked that in war, people die

adolf hitler - austrian psycopath, the defining figure of the 20th century, directly responsible for the deaths of 60 million people and for leading his country to war, division and decades of crap jokes

this guy's post is laughable - existence threatened? ok, maybe wales was left of the front cover of a manual a couple of years ago but it's a bit rich. and by the way it's POLL tax. it's not a tax on bits of wood in the ground or polish peopl, although the mail may like that

the 'pole' tax ???
Is that why Britain is being 'swamped' by east European migrants - we don't tax them anymore?

I just read the comments concerning the Blair at the EU meeting. I have vever read such dross. Words like 'treason', 'revolution', 'treachery', 'lies' etc are thrown about with wild abandon. According to one commentor, Germany is still the enemy 62 years after the last bullet was fired. To be honest I have never read such hysterical, paranoid, xenophobic cobblers since, well, since the last time I read the comments on a Mail EU story.

I'm not altogether sure on the EU, but what I'm quite sure on is I'm not a goon like them.

Does this count as a good news story?

Baby girl who has had six heart attacks tops Europe's heart transplant list

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/a ... ge_id=1770

No comments yet. My suggestion has not made it.

Surely this young girl should not have to rely on a foriegn heart to maintain her life. The tranplant service in England should get it's act together. Or is that in a state of decline like the rest of Blair's NHS

So sign up yourself and your children to donate in the event of your death(s). It's not like they have spares lying around and they're just being disorganised (probably organizing more elf and safety bureaucratic rules/translating the signs into Urdu/funding asylum seekers, drug addicts and transsexuals - insert paranoid right-wing fantasy about hospitals here.), people actually have to give them.
