The Mail have had another crack at the new Doctor Who with a headline saying that it had lost 1.2 million viewers on Satuarday because fans thought it was too sexy, why does the Mail have it in for Doctor Who?

They just can't resist an opportunity to print pics of a young woman in a short skirt. The sense of righteous outrage wouldn't be complete without them.

I have been doing some thinking about 'New Who' of late even though I will watch it and Matt Smith has been great along with the other 2,I can't connect with with it like I could with Classic Doctor Who,I don't know if it's because I grew up with the first 7 Doctors or I read the past Doctor books from when Virgin and later BBC books used to bring out but I don't feel connected to New Who as I do with old Who :!:

Quite frankly, if someone is annoyed at something being 'too sexy', better off without them.

More sluttiness for all!

I liked Brooker's description of Matt Smith as resembling "a friendly Easter Island statue".

I read a couple of the Virgin ones but can't remember much about them (apart from wotserchops from ER clearly being Bernice Somerfield.)

Seemed as good an excuse as any. BTW, my mum went to school with the singer.

Let's see the ratings for series four (Tennant's last full series) and the just finished series five starring Matt Smith. The Tennant episodes are on the left; Smith on the right. I've ommitted the last three episodes as the season five final figures have yet to be announced (or at least I can't find them, just the overnights). All figures are in millions, of course. If the Smith episode beats the Tennant episode I'll add the difference in green; if Tennant gets the higher rating, I'll give the figure in red.

1. Partners in Crime 9.1 - The Eleventh Hour 10.08 +0.98

2. Fires of Pompeii 9.0 - The Beast Below 8.4 -0.6

3. Planet of the Ood 7.5 - Victory of the Daleks 8.2 + 0.7

4. Sontaran Stratagem 7.06 - The Time of Angels 8.6 +1.54

5. The Poison Sky 6.53 - Flesh and Stone 8.5 +1.97

6. Doctor's Daughter 7.33 - The Vampires of Venice 7.7 +0.37

7. Unicorn and Wasp 8.41 - Amy’s Choice 7.5 -0.91

8. Silence in the Library 6.27 - The Hungry Earth 6.5 +0.23

9. Forest of the Dead 7.84 - Cold Blood 7.5 -0.34

10. Midnight 8.05 - Vincent and the Doctor 6.8 -1.25

So according to the actual facts, rather than wishful thinking and bias, Doctor Who is still popular and the Mail are still lying cunts.

it's getting harder to judge viewing figures based on these kind of numbers anyway, with the increasing amount of people watching on the iplayer service. i didn't watch either part of the finale the nights they actually went out.
