Hi Malcolm - thanks for the plug. I should say that's a link to a story from 2007 in case others don't spot that. It shows that the Express has been pretty openly racist for quite a while.

Here's a quote from the BNP website in 2008:

oh ffs, this is the kind of front page they're going to have to seriously distance themselves from in the future, i'm surprised they're still clinging on to the use of the word "ethnic" like that. give it 5 years and it'll universally look as bad a if they'd stuck "paki" on the front page.

If the Express considers Americans to be "ethnics" then I'll take it back about the scaremongering. Otherwise, it's just a term which is not officially racist, but everyone who uses it, means it in a derogatory way.

Also, the use the 2001 census figures and call them "current". Because nothing has happened in the last ten years.

I thought "ethnics" (who tend to vote for social democratic parties) were OK (he's banged on before about how unfair immigration is on the Conservative party- the fact they don't do well with immigrants isn't anything to do with them being full of cunts). Clearly it's they who all along have mucked up my Scandinavian dreams. I erroneously had blamed cunts off papers like the Telegraph. Glad I've been put right.

Gay right is a kind of totemic issue for this bloke because it's the only issue he's more liberal than ethnics on.

Just about the weaseliest sentence going, the immediate emphasis is on the blacks and asians as everyone is acutely accustomed to "Other" being the tiny sliver of the proverbial pie-chart; not to mention the use of the word "minorities" makes it sound even LESS significant.

In truth however it's completely the opposite, it's a bit like me saying "the BNP is comprised of retired civil servants, university educated graduates and other minorities"

Im thought the DE would have that figure up to 30-50% by 2050, like the BNP keep saying.

Considering the ethnic population is about 10-11% at the moment, its seems quite small to get to 20% in 40 years time.

Thats a 0.25% increase a year.

As explained, the 'ethnic population' is 100%.
I find it offensive to simply refer to anyone who is non-white as 'ethnic'.
