Madeleine McCann would never have been lost but for that 2 hour gap in the space-time comtinuum.

Three bags of coupons is NOT representative of the population as a whole. I see Hitchens has distanced himself from the "campaign" soon enough. Let Parliament debate it, with all the facts, not just the DM distorted viewpoint.

Why do you keep referring to 'Berlin Time'? Dog-whistling?

Don't mention the war!

(Profoundly silly article by the way).

Nothing I can see in the Mail about their campaign against it.

The Express are for it and celebrating "their" victory.

From the Express story:
Quote:
Tory Tobias Ellwood told MPs: “It is hard to imagine a more simple, cost-effective piece of legislation which would dramatically change our way of life for the better. Sunshine brightens our day, our lives and our spirits. It makes our world happier.”

He dismissed claims in some quarters that the switch would put the UK on to “Berlin time”.

He said that, as the clocks were changed to double summer time during the war, a more appropriate term would be “Churchill time”.

That'll annoy Hitchens.

Tobias Ellwood is my MP (for the next week, anyway). I'm not surprised he's for it, the extra sunlight will help people spend more time on the beach buying overpriced ice creams from the council here in Bournemouth.

No comments, I can not believe that.

I think the comments facility has died as there don't seem to be any comments anywhere. I must say in general the great MoS campaign seems to have gone rather quiet - even Hitchens has buried his sulk way down his column today. Perhaps even they have worked out that only their most rabid readers are going to fail to notice that the Parliamentary vote went overwhelmingly against them.

Hang on the Daily Express are having a "crusade" to introduce an hour's more sunshine into our lives in winter by having us adopt CET. Methinks all is not well in right wing tabloid land.

This was on the polls thread from August;

Quote:
Should British Summer Time be introduced throughout the year?

Yes - 68%
No - 32%

5 months on, Mail readers are against it, generally. Bit of a U-ee.
