There's no concrete Tea Party link, is there? It's all confused and probably also going to be smothered in mis-direction as well, of course. Regardless, it's horrible.

And regardless, Palin and co can bugger off.

yeah, we're still in that weird period after something big has happened but when we've got very little information on it. it's every stations headline story, but there isn't nearly enough known of what is happening or happened to fill all of the time dedicated to it.
so it's just random speculation time for now.

msnbc already has a "profile" of the suspect, random bollocks pulled off various internet accounts - which may or may not be his - and public records - which are incomplete.

The Mail is touting the idea that the shooting is somehow linked to her 'pro-abortion' position. This makes sense for them, as they won't have to blame the Tea Party movement that they are shaping up to promote in the UK.

We are referring (or at least I am) to the overheated polemic unleashed by right-wing commentators and the NRA which has led to this febrile political climate, in which these things have happened.

Because it's coming out the shooter was a leftie,not only that but the left-wing blog Daily Kos website is shitting bricks at the moment and has caught wiping a post off their website from someone who posted the day before the shooting commenting that the congresswomen who was later shot was dead to him because she voted against Nancy Pelosi as Minority Leader,now there's no evidence at the moment that it was the shooter who was the person who made that comment but he could have seen it and decided to go out and do it based on that comment,I just think it's wrong to jump the gun and start pointing fingers before the facts are in.

The general tone of US right-wing blogs and comments is "It's far too early to start making sweeping generalisations about his affililiations with the Tea Party. And anyway, he's almost definitely a lefty".

From what I understand from the fact that we now have a name and several social networking accounts for this nutjob, he was your traditional paranoid loner whose house was peppered with anti-government posters and who was constantly running his mouth on this stuff.

It's terrible to say it, but I really do hope that this'll be the wake-up call to give the GOP, the Tea Party and the right in general the well-deserved kicking they've been looking for for a while over their behaviour. Several American left-wing commentators've already leapt on the idea that if you teach your neanderthal supporters that you must not trust, fear and hate the government and the Democrats in general, this sort of thing is a foregone conclusion.

I'm reminded of a few months back, when Mama Grizzly herself took abuse from the press for presenting her map of Democrats to kick out of office in the mid-terms (Gifford included) on her Fox show and website, and showed each of the politicians she was targeting as a photograph in a gunsight with crosshairs.

I hope she's got enough campaign funds left to pay her speechwriters overtime. I have no doubt that the likes of Palin, Beck, O'Reilly et al will be as quick as DM journalists to deny that their conduct has anything to do with this.

Palin's certainly been one of the first to open her mouth about anything else so far, yet she seems strangely quiet about this.
