I was delighted when I read about this on the BBC site yesterday.

"Big Society", in a nutshell, is Cameron's way of making people work for free, work that was previously undertaken by paid employees who now find themselves, or will soon, on the dole.
It really is that straightforward. He just masks it by attempting to delude people into thinking they are going to be more in control of their communities. It's just bullshit. I really am pleased about this. Two fingers up to Cameron. I hope this is the start of a domino effect and puts the kybosh on this ridiculous plan.

It's not even getting volunteers to do it. It's just cuts.

It didn't seem to cross their mind that charities get public money or that the state (as with the Forestry Commisssion) helps volunteers.

Hardly surprising.
2 weeks ago it was all about letting internal oppositions work it out for themselves.
I know that the Libyans have faced a lot more violence than other nations, but they're not calling for "Boots on the ground".
However it was almost impossible to find news last night without running into a Ex Services backbencher or Pentagon time-server
discussing the logistics of military intervention.

Don't they remember that we're only a couple of strafed weddings from indefinite immersion in another small war with no exit strategy.

This is a view which seems to pop up regularly in articles about the army and I have to say I just don't get it. It was true 70 years ago but I hadn't noticed that Saddam Hussain or Bin Laden were either threatening to invade us or posing any real threat to our freedom to express an opinion. It just seems to be a knee-jerk response to any sort of perception that people in the armed forces are not getting enough reverence.

If the BNP propose that we get out of every conflict we're currently in, and not provide aid to any on else using our soldiers how are they also the party to save the jobs of all our servicemen?

If every soldier comes back, we'll have 1000s of soldiers swanning about on their bases doing jack shit.

I just thought of what they would be used for, rounding up all the darkies onto the boats back home.
