Bring back the birch!

It won't work if you take their MP3 they will steal another one or probably the parents will go crazy and give the police more trouble. They should bring back caning that might stop them.

I can't help feeling that more would be achieved if the young tearaways were to be given a damn good thrashing. . I can almost hear the howls of protest from the do-gooders.... and if they are against it, it must be a good idea.

Bring back corporal punishment and give them a good caning. Watch how well behaved they become. The world has lost the plot with these arrogant little wastes of space.

You mean, father hits his son on the head in front of police. What did you expect them to do? Hitting a child on the head can lead to brain damage, besides being illegal. You'd have complained fast enough if the police had done nothing.

And yet when you watch those "Road Cops" TV programes you see 5 or 6 cops roughly wrestle a harmless drunk to the ground, smashing his face into the pavement, and forcing his arms up behind his back.

Pathetic.... and the comments that attack what the father did. I was also smacked when I was a child - not beaten, but smacked (although my mum did use a variety of implements - very resourseful!!!). I learned right from wrong because of this, not because I was TOLD I was a naughty boy. I learned my lesson well and tried not to repeat the same thing. I have children, my older, grown up son was also smacked - not beaten - and has learned his lessons well - he doesn't smoke/drink/gamble, never been on the wrong side of the law, and works hard. My six year old also has the ocassional smack - not beaten - and I hope that she will turn out like her older sibling. Beating is not an option nowadays, but a common sense approach is. I despair for the country when I read stories like this.

When I were a lad all them years ago up North I sat down for tea, about five seconds later I was flat on mi back having been "cuffed" by mi dad. earlier in the day I had been caught doing something naughty, like playing on the railway lines or throwing stones at the bulbs in street lamps. I had not known there was an unwritten law between parents and the local bobby. If the kids are caught misbehaving, clip them with your leather glove and we'll take care of it when we get back home. I was clipped because I still had the finger marks from the gloves on my cheek! The change in England is not solely the fault of the recent government, it's partly because the silent majority are silenced by the squeaky do good liberal plonkers. It's time parents stood up for what they think is right and take back the responsibility for discipline, clip 'em round the ear or smack their arse in public, fill the courts with parents who want to be parents.

More likely, it's just that they were all repeatedly given six of the best, clipped round the ear, thrashed with Dad's belt, shoved through a meatgrinder by Granddad, punched in the throat by Mum, but never ever beaten, and the poor brain-damaged sods now genuinely believe that it never did them any harm.

It's time the silent majority started twatting their kids (not beating) across the land in every street to show the do good liberals that enough is enough. It's the middle class revolt! Each child's tear brings us closer to the Rapture! Praise Margaret!

Well done this man, physical punishment works wonders.Too much pussyfooting around by tree huggers and yogurt knitters has left this country with an unruly bunch of know nothings. Bring back the cane and all other old punishments, amazing how much the threat of the cat calmed riotous behavior.
