A very interesting post on No Sleep 'Til Brooklands:

In a departure from this blog's usual jokey fisking, what follows is a guest post from fellow Manchester-dweller and fellow cool person Juliet Shaw. It's the story of how she agreed to be the subject of what turned out to be a deeply misleading Mail article, and her subsequent fight against it.

That Daily Mail job ad (which initially broke age discrimination law)...

Caution: Swallow all fluids before reading this.

I also have a new blog, of sorts. It's a spoof local news blog, so pretty much only of interest to people who live in (or know) Bournemouth:

Ahem.
A short but good blog entry by The Angry Mob on the Mail's invasion of a woman's privacy (again) and asking the question, how do they never get questioned for this.
Ooh, I think I know the answer to that one!

http://www.squidu.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=78484 should be read by a fair number of quite literate and outspoken women - every little helps.

Excellent blog on Angry Mob. Mail churnalism, selective use of facts, stonking inaccuracies, hatred for public services (in this case the Royal Mail).

The Guardian reports the growing grudge match between the Mail and Ofcom, and adds some context.

Why might that be? Since 2009 and the advent of the European AVMS (Audio Visual Media Services) directive, the UK has had an obligation to regulate all "TV-like" broadcasts, including on-demand content on the internet and video on newspaper websites.

To that end, a new UK body, ATVOD (Authority for TV On Demand), was established to do the business but is ultimately under the authority of Ofcom. If you appeal a decision made by ATVOD it is Ofcom that has the final say.

Does this mean we now have someone better than the PCC we can complain to about the mail website?
